I walked past Damian Lewis and his two kids who were wearing arsenal shirts on the way into the ground today. I like Homeland but will now be hoping he gets tortured by Al Quieda in series 3.

This forum has been having some proper RAWK-esque moments today!

We were fairly poor today, nothing to do with half a dozen new players trying to bed in a new league ( and country to boot ) with complete strangers though...

Like someone mentioned above, never have I felt so upbeat after losing to them wankers.

I think they are lucky this fixture took place so early. I'm already looking forward to the return when our current team of strangers will be settled in nicely. I expect a different outcome then!

What did he say?

@1MickyHazard: Makes me laugh the goonersfans no where to be seen and now everywhere, shit fans, support your club in good and bad not just when you win

@1MickyHazard: Spurs fans, don't worry, we are fine and long term great but wow have a look at how poor they were and nothing else coming through.

@1MickyHazard: Hahaha 3rd game of season, you thought they had won title hahaha has expectation dropped that far, beating Spurs is now their trophy haha

@1MickyHazard: Classic comment from Arsenal fan, Flamini and Ramsey taught us a lesson hahahahahahahahahaha TWEET OF THE DAY, MY SIDES ARE HURTING

to everyone on here yes for some reason we seem very pedestrian and it seemed that ideas on how to break them down were in short supply but they were at home , they have a team that have played together for a good while , and unless they get 4 or 5 players in they are seriously short in numbers for a full season in cl and the premiership , a close win over us is only papering over the cracks for them . as for us losing capoue is more worrying than losing the game he has been great , but this i think will make us change how we play slightly as we need to bring our attack into the game more and until that happens we will struggle to score . plus is it my imagination or is there a significant drop in the amount of goals scored so far this season are we becoming like italian football lots of one nils or even nil nils ?

I didnt think we played too bad, sure we could have been better but it was a bit of scrappy game, we will get better I am sure. I do wish Dawson would stop hoofing though!

I'm sure I can't say anymore that hasn't been said in over 90 pages of opinion giving, but I want to add mine.
Ball winning has improved from last term, creativity in final 3rd certainly has not. Early days - but a real bummer sequence of events for 1 day. Will get over it soon, but not just yet.

I will now go and read some of those pages, to sooth my quelling anger.

And PS: Why the hell does David Beckham's son support Arsenal?

Makes me sick!

Don't care about the result, fact is our team need time to gel, was shocked Holtby didn't come on, the game was crying out for a creative midfielder. We need a left back, Rose's positional sense is poor, has all the attributes to be a top defender, but will cost us goals until he reaches that level. Impressed with Walker, up and down, Townsend did well, Chadli showed flashes, was a bit disappointed by our midfield, looked out of gas too often but again, in flashes showed we can beast games.

Thought the Scum played well, impressed with Ramsey, but in all honesty their team will drop points, even if they get Ozil, they have no depth.

Just been looking at the successful forward passes made in the final 3rd by both teams 5 midfielders:

Paulinho 5
Dembele 3
Capoue 3
Chadli 7
Townsend 5

Rosicky 8
Ramsey 5
Wilshire 5
Cazorla 15
Walcott 5

Shows that Cazorla was the goto guy for them and we couldn't shackle him.

We had more possession and made 130 more passes than them but most were in our own half. They made more passes in the final 3rd than us. Hopefully integrating Holtby, Lamela and Eriksen into the team will improve this.

fair post this, certainly we require a midfileder with guile.

Hasn't changed since last season then. We had Bale storming through but still no one like Modders or VDV, it's certainly something we need drastically.

Just had a quick glance through this thread. Crazy things going on.

Observations.

We largely dominated the game. I don't see too many going to Arsenal and limiting them to such little chances/possession. We controlled most of the contest and defensively looked solid with the exception of two total Dawson fuck ups and then chasing the game later on. Don't see Dawson lasting much longer in AVB's system. He was abysmal yesterday. Cost us the game IMO.

Creativity. Not great but certain to improve. Put Eriksen or Lamela at number 10 in this side with the amount of dominance we will have over most sides this season and we will score goals. Plenty of them. I posted last week that it was a shame that Eriksen wouldn't be available for Arsenal as it was a game I thought we may need him in. It proved to be so.

So, we've P3 W2 and L1. Get back on the horse next week and forget about it. Season starts next week for me with our new toys on show.

We deserved something from the game imo. They weren't any better than us. The referee was poor imo and we were unlucky not to put the ball in the net at least once.

It was unbelievable. AVB had to run up and tell the brainless dick to throw it long into the box.....wtf!!!

The way that scene played out was very disturbing to me personally.

What's happened to Dembele this season - new recruits affecting him? He's not performing up his good form last season. Has he been told not to dribble the ball now??

I think the unforced errors and giving the ball away too cheaply are symptomatic of players that still need time to gel.

You don't need gelling time to be able to keep the ball and play a decent pass, not for £50,000 a week.

After the way they finished last season and the after the game yesterday I think we need to be looking at overtaking one of the mancs for top 4 spot. Much as I cant stand them they play good quick football and without lloris yesterday could have easily been 3 0
