Makes me feel a bit helpless that our alternative at RB is trippier. I think we are going to have fullback issues for a good few years at this rate.

Said it at the end of last season, as good as Davis and Trippier have been for us, to progress we needed two very good full backs with pace, that flaw was exposed again today.

I didn’t agree with the Foyth / Toby selection and do not think Pep or Koop would have done that - that is the difference.

I don’t think Foyth is ready and could do with a loan out (if we had enough cover - which I don’t think we do). Need to be careful with him because his confidence could be shot after Wolves and this; it will show his character.

The team as a whole was poor and can’t believe we got out fought by them.

Plus - Bellerin is such a prick. If Jan was going to get sent off (I didn’t think it was despite what Neville said), I wish it had been for decking Bellerin.

No excuses, beaten by the better and hungrier side on the day, congrats Arsenal for that.

But.. They are a Europa League side, we are a Champions League side and we'll finish ahead of them in the league again this season

Also I don't agree with Foyth starting over Toby, maybe it would have made no difference to the result but it certainly didn't help

Trying to find a silver lining, at least we have played more away games this season than anyone else- albeit every game is an away one for us.

Didn’t expect that kind of performance and result at all. But have to say, Poch got it spot on with the diamond vs Chelsea’s 4-3-3, he got it completely wrong with the diamond against Arsenal’s back 3 and was too stubborn to change it. We weren’t up for it enough but tacitcs played a big part as our shape against theirs meant midfield and fullbacks had no options. Poch also got it wrong starting Foyth over Toby in such a huge intense game. Shame but we go again. Bit worrying if this is it what Dick Emery can do with a shit arsenal team, imagine what he can do with a good team :( COYS

We deserved to lose today and shipping 3 goals in the second half isn't great. However, there is a long way to go in the season yet and it is still very tight.

Won't be a popular viewpoint today but I still back Aurier to come good.

There was a lot going against him today -- the fact that the back line was clearly unsettled from kickoff due to the bizarre team selection, the fact that the midfield in front of him was woefully ill-suited to cope with Arsenal's press, the fact that Arsenal set out to exploit the space left by Poch's positioning of the fullbacks, and last of all his own personal feud with Emery likely making him press a bit.

It's worrying that he coped so miserably poorly with those pressures but today was a collective failure that had the effect of making the fullbacks stand out as looking particularly bad. Aurier has come on by leaps and bounds since having settled a bit this season and under Poch's tutelage has the makings of a very decent fullback. Hopefully we'll eventually look back at this performance as (yet another) blip on the radar during the process of his settling in.

Main positive thing I can say is that I was in a mixed pub today and as ever the Woolwich fans are a class above Chelsea and West Ham. Good banter without the gross racism, a derby like it should be. Hopefully we sort that mess in midfield and still finish above them. Love to hate, gutted but we move on. COYS

1-6 vs Barcelona that's what.

How on earth can Foyth o out on loan? Sanchez is injured; Verts suspended; Toby susceptible to injury and transfer. But yeah let's send our CB cover on loan that makes a lot of fucking sense. :ROFLMAO:

Sure, lets kneejerk but don't go completely bonkers:woot:

Foyth is ready to play against your Palaces, Cardiffs, Southamptons etc, but not away to one of your biggest rivals.

To add to this, today’s performance risks putting Foyth back, so why put him in the firing line and risk that? As Others have said Toby play today and should have been rested on Wednesday

Those types of fullbacks you mention would likely cost a small fortune - when we can't even find enough pennies down the back of the sofa to find a half decent midfielder, there is little chance of us shelling out on very good fullbacks with pace that will likely cost us £50m each.

I agree. I used to play right back and when you have no oulet, are getting pressed relentlessly from the first minute, your young CB is nervy and players are running off you in all directions it can make you rattled, you can panic and become erratic with decisions.

You know after today’s result we’re literally not on track to qualify for the CL right?

We are 5th only because of a poorer GD to Arsenal. They still have to play us at home.

Arsenal have to play united away next which is not a guaranteed 3 points.

As long as we are, at least, within distance from the top four if not better, then I think we are still on track, especially as there’s still more than half the season to go.

Normally it would risk it. But he looked supremely confident, even overly so, still trying every take-on. Poch is a brilliant judge of character and he seems to have it right here. He is incredibly talented for his age.

For those talking about catching City etc..
That was never happening even before today.... zero chance.
Im more angry of the inept performance once again in one of our biggest games of the season, that hurts, one win away at their place since I can remember.
So angry tonight from 2-1 up and we knew it would be tough 2nd half yet the players decided to not even bother, as for poch today - royally fucked up and hopefully he knows it

Well that didn't go too well did it?
It was always going to be a tough game, they were at home and clearly fired up for the biggest game of their season so far so they weren't a bad bet for the points. I take people's point about Toby not starting, it was a surprise but guess he rotated him and Foyth who couldn't play last wednesday, I expect that was a good learning exercise for Foyth though.
I am disappointed but surprisingly not gutted, shit happens and it happened today.

My feelings for Tottenham have hugely changed since we left WHL.

I don’t want to support a football club that strives to finish in the top 4 over winning the league or any trophy in offer.

We’ve become what Arsenal were mocked for. Under ENIC, we’ll never win the league. They simply see the club as an investment and couldn’t care less what we win, so long as we are making a profit.
