7 points dropped in first 3 games of the season before the window shut - and still people were apologising for Levy not getting his business done early to save £2.50

Sod it, Arsenal have screwed us twice on the last day to stop Champions league football. I'm going for third time lucky.

Harper isn't a poor 'keeper and he's got plenty of experience. It's not like Arsenal are going to face some rookie 'keeper making his debut...... unless Pardew decides to screw us royally!

Some irony in Martinez winning Wigan's first ever trophy and getting relegated, whilst his previous club also wins their first ever trophy and finish in the top 10 in the same season.

Read an article yesterday that stated same thing - we are where we are now because Levy didn't do business until end of window again. Everyone else spent in time for pre-season......

They dont have any decent defenders everytime he has tried to sign one Dave Whelan has had say as they cant afford him. They spent €4mill this summer and 3.5mill of that was for Kone. They are in a totally different league to everyone else in the prem

But surely you can still coach/drill the team to at least attempt to defend with a bit more coherence rather than being suicidally open as is there way? Its not all about possession and attempting to pass it around nicely. He just strikes me as having a one-track mind and being focused on thing only.

Have a suspicion they will drop out of the Europa before it starts.

I think they'll want to as well. Got enough games in the Championship and will be under pressure to bounce straight back up. It's not an easy league to get back out of once you go down. It's not like they'll get a lot of money out of it either.

Pardew should put himself in goal, his gob is big enough to fill the thing..

Winning their games is hardly "screwing us". We gave it a good shot and if we come up short we will continue to build and go again next season.

Would that mean Everton get the spot... and maybe Martinez will manage in Europe :sneaky:

I was maybe a bit harsh but I just think he isn't half as clever as is made out, they try and play the right way but are consistently shocking at the back and show no improvement. If you keep making the same mistakes season after season then I question why he can't see it and insist on playing the same way. Its admirable I guess but foolhardy.

Completely agree. It was why I was relieved we didn't approach him for our job as some wished. There is a reason why Wigan are relegation fodder every year, and his inability to get his team to defend coherently is one of them. Year after year they make the same mistakes.

I feel sorry for them this game, Arsenal away two days after playing in a cup final is a nightmare game (nightmare for us anytime) to have to save yourselves, but their season is fucked by their frailties throughout the season, not tonight.

And us taking one point off them in two games is not good enough either.

TBH Wigan needing to win this game is the worst thing that could happen to us. Wigan going gung ho later on versus Theo and Oxlade Chamberlain on the break means this game has 4-1 arsenal written all over it.

Wish I'd put some money on this now.
