Taking out of form/not 100% players have contributed to Englands downfall for years at major tournaments. Southgate has said he won't do this, although I don't see him not including Joe Hart.

The fact Southgate made a fairly emphasised point about Wilshire still being young at 26, came across as he still has years on his side as far as going to big tournaments. I personally doubt he will go to Russia.

It's impossible to tell if we took different players that we would have fared better in any of those world cups.
Any replacement probably wouldn't have got any game time anyway.

Really don't care if wiltshire goes or not though.

Yesterday's paper;

Wilshere: I'm fully fit now and ready to prove that I can cut it at a major tournament for the first time

Also yesterday's paper:

Jack Wilshere OUT of England squad - Arsenal star left at home after another injury
He's like Donkey Carroll , they can get injured reading a newspaper

A premiership team uses around 17-18 of their 25 man squad a season regularly. England could get away with taking a few at risk players.

Whether they will or not is up to southgate.

I know what you're saying, but this is a four week tournament, if someone picks up and injury to miss a couple of weeks then it's a big blow for the squad in terms of numbers. When you go into a tournament you should be able to rely on every player selected.

I said "bits and pieces". Like the pass he played for Aubameyang against us.

Yes, you did, but I was just illustrating that the bits and pieces don't really add up to much. Dele's been accused of having a poor season, but he's still been far more creative than Wilshere. I agree with what you said about him looking good when he first arrived though. Have they changed his position since then? He doesn't seem to play as far forward now, but not sure if that's down to his mobility?

Well, in the example I provided, it resulted in a clear goal scoring chance. Could you see any of our English players being able to see and execute that pass? Alli is playing in a better team, further forward, more regularly, (almost double appearances to Wilshere) and to some sort of plan. ie. None of these could be said about Arsenal, or their use of Wilshere, certainly not with any conviction. I do think he is better centrally, in a 3, ideally in the system Rogers used to play at Swansea. Not where Hodgson asked him to play. Anyway, it's all academic as you can never rely on him being fit. That’s a huge problem for England, as you will be able to see over the next week when there is FA creativity in our midfield.
