That's not my point...My point is that us not finishing above Arsenal were more often than not self inflicted in that period than the supposed 'ability' of Wenger to finish above us which is what I'm referring to.
One thing to also take into the mix is that we have recently been punching above our weight so to speak, with a net spend surplus, and a wage bill that (certainly the one I saw a year or so ago) was half that of Arsenal's. We have a great first 11 but we are so economically run that perhaps we don't have the depth to cope when it gets to the end of the season.

They're one and the same. We may have dropped important points in the run ins, but they've won key games in the run ins too. Coming back from behind twice to get a point at the Etihad in the penultimate game of last season was a typical example as it would have been mathematically over if they hadn't got the equaliser. At the end of the day, it comes down to who was more consistent. And the fact is, we've managed to finish above EVERY other team in the league at least once in the last two seasons and at least twice in the last seven seasons, but not them. He must be doing something right.

When we've ended that long run of him finishing above us, then we can start saying we want him to stay. But if that trend is going to continue then I want him the fuck outta there.

The only way he goes is if he appoints his own successor and a director of football.
And someone to make the tea, and do the accounts.
And a chief scout. And someone to manage the contracts.
And someone to put an arm around the younger players when they are feeling lonely.

I grant you 2011-12 and last season. The rest? No way. They were better than us, plain and simple.

Right. They have been better than us. But recently its only just.

We have been jostling with them for quite a few years now and while we have finished below them and blown good point leads we had over them I dont think its hard to see that the distance between us has been shrinking and we have kept pace with them for the most part despite them having greater resources.

Its been a slow transition but we clearly have the better "team" right now and that has as a lot to do with Wengers inability to build a balanced side. Before our very eyes for years now we have watched him not be able to. We haven't been able to either for years but we have now.

Adding Ozil and Sanchez won him the FA cup but he has not come close to challenging for the League and he is regressing in the Champions League.

It could all go tits up again - im well prepared for that but it wouldnt make a difference. I still think we are a team on the way up and they are stagnant and cant progress until they change something.

21 years - im all for long tenures but that is just too long for someone who isn't Winning the league every few years in that time.

Look this whole debate stemmed from the fact that you thought Wenger was some sort of messiah for managing to continually finish above Spurs when it's clear as day that Wenger is the reason Arsenal have stagnated, I'm not disputing that Arsenal haven't done well to come back and finish above us, I just don't agree with the fact that Wenger is solely the reason why they've managed to finish above us recently especially when they've managed to fuck up winning the league around the same time every season but agree to disagree.

I don't understand why we can't laugh at Arsenal's or any other teams woes, it's part of football isn't it? West Brom fans were singing We want you to stay Arsene Wenger on Saturday, are you saying that their fans have no right to sing that just because they don't get anywhere near Arsenal's success? When Utd had Moyes managing them the whole league was laughing at them, are you saying they have no right to, I honestly don't get it? If you can't enjoy all forms of football for what it is and that includes schadenfreude then honestly what's the point? I'm not really one to get hung up on this supposed karma invented by Spurs fans when it comes to talking about finishing above Arsenal or speaking about Arsenal in a derogatory way, I don't actually fkin care TBH in fact I think some Spurs fans obsess over finishing above Arsenal way too much that they forget what really matters for our club and that's our continued progress.

They are far bigger club financially than us and bigger than Chelsea and not much smaller than City on revenues and rank 7th biggest club in the word [Deloitte] They have broken the 30M transfer barrier 4 times we have broken the 20M barrier twice in the Bale sale summer. So IMO they should be competing for league titles and should have won a couple. They always finish respectably in the league but I don't think many people take them very seriously anymore as league contenders.

I have a laugh at their expense because we may as-well enjoy it while it lasts but obviously I am worried if they ever decide to finally sort themselves out as a club they could leave us behind short to medium term, its just fortuitous that they have regressed and their decline has gone on for so long and coincided with us now getting the new stadium so we can in the long term match them.

Arsenal through 27 matches, year by year
16-17: 50 pts, +22 GD
15-16: 51, +17
14-15: 51, +22
13-14: 59, +25
12-13: 47, +23
11-12: 49, +17

So basically the same season over and over. Except, recently, Spurs/City/Utd/Chelsea/Liverpool/Leicester - in various combinations - have all been better. Arsenal fans aren't imagining it, they ARE stagnating, but the performance of others is leaving them further behind. We should have been ahead of them last season. They've gone from 1st/2nd to 3rd/4th/5th. Maybe further down this season. A two year extension for AW would be excellent if he continues to be so blinkered.

You've forgotten about Sissoko. To be fair I think everyone has forgotten about Sissoko.

IMO Wenger signed his new contract some time ago but was waiting on their annual upsurge to then announce it. Without the results, they're now using their usual media friendlies (John Cross and Jeremy Wilson) to do a PR bit around wholesale changes in their playing and backroom staff. If you look, their two articles are nearly identical. Clearly fed by their club.

Whoever is the manager at Arsenal, huge changes are needed.

- Their british core all underperforming and nearing the end of their contracts,
- Their two star players wanting away and nearing end of their contracts
- Petr Cech and Koscielny are past their peak
- Mustafi and Xhaka have proven to be expensive failures.
- Some comical civil war among their fanbase with them routinely fighting each other in the stands (latte's being spilled everywhere apparently).

Oh, and their north London rivals have got their act together and competing. I honestly believe they're harder on Wenger because every weekend they don't have us to laugh at.

I've always wanted a bomb wiping out Arsenal from the map but this is far better. They're imploding.
