Im getting a load of vitriolic abuse from goons about Wengers record vs our record over the last 20 years. I stated that they shouldnt be comparing his time at Arsenal to ours. They should really be comparing his time to Fergusons time at United. Looking at his record vs Wengers makes his 20 odd years look pretty bleak. He should have won more. And at least taken home a champions league win.

yes he modernised football. But he also inherited a squad that was reaching its prime.

Hes been a good manager. But for that amount of time at a club he should have won much more.

Am i sad he is going. Only because he was ruining Arsenal. Will I shed a tear. No. I hope there are turbulent times ahead for them. Am i bitter for the last 20 years....... Maybe.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I kinda think I'm on their side a little with this one. I mean yes in theory it's easiest to compare Wengers record with Fergusons since they're the only two PL managers to have managed over 800+ games, still that's comparing Wenger to literally the very best we've had in the PL.

I also find it hard to call his time at Arsenal bleak by any stretch. 3 league titles is nothing to sniff at at all, similarly 7 FA Cup Wins. Champions League win would have been great for them but not like Wenger massively underachieved or anything. As annoying as he can be he's done a lot to earn respect in football and is easily one of the greats.

He's leaving them in a fairly bad state so let's hope they do continue this downward spiral and all, but part of why this downward spiral is so enjoyable is because of how high he lead them in the past. So here's hoping no-one takes them back there again.

Fuck Wenger by the way. He was an absolute **** when they were winning and doing well, he was a terrible loser who let his players be thugs. Now we are better than them people have gone soft on him.
Spurs fans reactions now (myself included)

The only one of those who would have me a bit worried was Allegri or Ancelotti.
The thing that gives me hope about Allegri is that Arsenal's defence needs vast improvement. He'd need about 4 new defenders. At Juve he already pretty much had that in place, so it was easier for him to transform (if he had to transform it at all?). Wasn't his reign at Milan, not so good? I think that that Milan and this Arsenal team are more in-parallell situations. If Allegri was going to Chelsea I'd be more concerned.

Yeah fair point. I just looked at that list of names and don’t see much to get worried about. Tuchel I’m not sure about, nor Enrique. Whereas I think Allegri, Ancelotti, Simeone or even Benetiz would do well there.

The all have a potentially bigger job than before though. Wenger is like an octopus in that club. His tentacles run fron the board room to the tea lady. Rip that out and it's not just about putting in a new manager, but an entirely new structure and many of these names won't have faced that before. Kroenke's son is over here for the time being overseeing this transition. But once the new manager is appointed is he sticking around? As if he doesn't and his father continues to not give a crap it could all go wrong very quickly. There is a twenty two year structure and legacy that needs dismantling before they can hope for true success.

Listening to Arsenal fans glowing with a renewed sense of hope is totally demoralising.
Don't worry. It'll be incredibly uplifting when they realise they're still shit next year, there are five clubs with better squads than them in England, they've got a load of overpaid primadonnas on expensive long-term deals - and that the problem is Kroenke and they have zero way to get rid of him. Oh, and they're stuck forever playing in a soulless bowl with no atmosphere.

As much as it pains me to say it Wenger has won more league titles at Arsenal than we have as a club and he is only 1 shy of our total FA cup haul. So his time at the scum can not be described as bleak at all.

Saying all that, Fuck him, fuck him right in the neck.

Even better, if you change England to London, what you have written also applies to West Ham .

You're right. Kroenke clearly couldn't care less about any of the teams he owns. He'll back off and let whomever he hired run them with minimal involvement. It's usually lead to disaster.

But there is a catch. If he somehow lucks into hiring competent management he can be successful. Very successful in fact. See Les Snead, Sean McVay and the LA Rams. Arsenals fate is completely tied into their next managerial hire. I hope they fuck it up.

All the tributes on the BBC, it's like he's dead.

Thanks arsene for being such a bad loser, for complaining about every decision and every ref that went against you. Thanks for showing me classlessness, in comparison with a gentleman like Jol you never showed an ounce of class.

When you came you were revolutionary but you leave as an outdated manager who is leaving a first team squad of little promise and many mercenaries.

If he had left 3 years ago, he would have left the club, head held high, but due to his arrogance he leaves with boos.

Now just watch those arsenal fans who insulted him change their tune, hypocritical sods.

From next season Mauricio Pochettino will be the longest serving manager in the Premiership.
I'll be the pedant who points out that Dyche and Howe have both been at their clubs a season longer than Poch, but of course both started outside the top flight so you're technically correct.
