Completely agree re. Ozil and I was surprised that they decided to give such a flaky player a new contract

It was the coward's way out, really; the board were trying to save face (and a complete meltdown from the fans) by not losing BOTH Sanchez and Ozil on frees. As per usual when you take shortcuts in life, you end up paying for it in the long-run

If I were them, I'd U-turn sharply and get rid of him, offering the buying club to pay half his wages

Minimise the damage; you can't have a loser like that moping around the training ground when you're trying to build a squad that can compete!!

Yep it was absolutely a political decision not a footballing one. As you say, the board wanted to save face because they knew the fans would lose their shit if both of their supposed "star" players left at the same time.

This made me laugh, apparently the Huddersfield were singing this at the Arsenal fans yesterday:-

"You wanted him out, you wanted him out,”
“You two-faced b**tards, you wanted him out."

Official. Psg.

I know, I was just messing around. Its been unofficial for a while now.

It's beginning to look like it could be Arteta. Its a massive risk to appoint someone with no experience. Even if he's an ex player I'm not sure the Arsenal crowd are going to be patient with him when they've been waited so long for a new manager.

I still think it could be Jardim.

I just hope whoever is appointed has total respect for the 20,000 trees
that were planted at Wenger's request at their London Colney training ground nearly 20 years ago.

Strange move if it turns out to be Arteta. No experience yet I would have thought what they need now is someone to steady the ship and not be learning on the job.

Don't ask me how i'm privvy to Arsenal ITK but I am but pinch of salt etc.

Arteta was at Highbury today to have formal discussions about becoming the Arsenal manager.

David Dein was heard saying to Arteta: "Mikel, thank you for your part in infiltrating Pep Guardiola's inner circle. You must have learnt a lot from him."

Arteta apparently replied: "Yes, Meeser Dein, I have learnt how to win the league like Pep."

Dein was shocked; "And how do we do that then?"

Arteta: "I will need half a billion pounds."

I’d have believed you if you hadn’t included Dein in the post ??

Joachim Low was one of the favourites for the job a while back.....he's just signed a contract extension with Germany.

So, Low has signed new deal with Ze Germans, Tuchel has gone PSG, Allegri says he's staying at Juve and now Hoffenheim DOF has said Nagelsmann is 100% staying... It's going to be Arteta isn't it :ROFLMAO:

Risky..

Maybe a success, maybe a useful fall-guy to get them through the transition before they hire a more established manager.
