sorry for the boring response but the truth is we don't know how this will turn out.

The guy isn't one of those very few nailed on to do well elite managers and neither is he an obvious car crash.

He might do very well get them punching above their weight...might be more of the same race for 5th kind of thing...or he could be a total flop sacked by December. All of these might happen.

They haven't obviously found a golden ticket or gone full Timmy Sherwood either.

He's not their first choice, the serial winner Allegri so that makes me happy

He’s definitely 2nd tier european manager imo. Did an ok job at Seville league wise. Yes the Europa run was good but an inferior cup is hardly a marker imo. Couldn’t win league at PSG after a big spend 1st season. And failed in CL with a team that definitely should have at least got to a semi. Will hugely depend on spending. But if you believe the £50m quoted it’s very hard to see them even getting top 4. He’d have to seriously punch which he never did in league 3 seasons at Sevilla.

I thought he did very well with Sevilla 'cos lets face it we were useless in it every year. To win three years in a row is no mean achievement. I think he might be a good appointment for Arsenal

You will of course notice that I altered that before you posted. Perhaps quote correctly rather than bits from before they were edited less than a minute after posting? Point still stands though. For a team that is supposedly challenging to win Champions league, 3 Europa wins and a few domestic trophies with a team that let him buy his dream team, his record is hardly amazing.

You will of course notice that I replied straight away, hence quoting your original post, but by all means keep getting your knickers in a twist over internet quotery.

Tool. :ROFLMAO:

Clearly a better appointment than Arteta but still not going to have any of the other top 6 worried.

Is not speaking English a big deal? They've only got six English players in the squad - five if Wilshere leaves. Plus Poch didn't speak much English when he went to Southampton.

Exactly. Really not that big a deal as long as the players are mature. Plus I'm sure he speaks some English he's just not fluent. There are more players in the squad who are Spanish and French native-speakers than English ones anyway and he speaks both.

Hope their next few seasons are as shit as their new kit, a total abortion of a kit

True, but it will also depend on whether or not the current crop of Arsenal players will accept the rigid tactical and hard-working ethos of the new man in charge.

Are they going to pull their socks up, or down-tools around November?

Really not par at PSG though, losing the league to Monaco, and doing worse in the Champions League than a much unfancied Blanc. Not really a success.

Failed at Spartak Moscow as well. Yes, did well at Sevilla and Valencia. Well at Sevilla not so much in the league, but did well in the cups. Valencia in terms of league position roughly par on what came before but in the context of financial problems he did well.

Very odd appointment for me. Arteta has the unknown factor, but he has everything to be a top top manager, very much more comforted by Emery, I mean the guy is a good manager by all means but hardly a miracle worker.

If Arteta has the “unknown factor” what makes you think he has everything to be a top manager?

I thought throwing a job like Arsenal to a bloke who’s never managed a team was either fucking brave or fucking stupid IMO.
