Emry did manage them, and won a league title
ANYONE could win the French league with PSG. No tactics needed, just pick 11 players in roughly the right positions and tell them to win. Where he fell short was Champions League where his tactics were exposed against decent teams. With a 75% win ratio with by far the best team in the league he didn't get the backing from the board.

Luckily we no longer have that issue. We have a fantastic manager who has now signed a new deal and will be looking down the table at Arsenal for years to come!!!

They have announced 'Visit Rwanda' as their first sleeve sponsor.

Have to admit, I'd never considered Rwanda but it looks interesting. Lots of wildlife and spectacular landscape.

And also sign your main rivals top scorer. It’s impossible to compete regularly in that league with PSG, they’ve got a monopoly much like Bayern Munich.

So, they've gone with a guy who did pretty well at a club just behind the big boys in Spain (a bit like Arsenal), who won the Europa League (which Arsenal are in), whose worked with DOFs (which Arsenal have turned to), has worked with French players (who Arsenal always seem to have a lot of) and did reasonably well at one of the richest, most dysfunctional, clique filled clubs in the world (sounds a bit familiar too).

Yet some people struggle to see why Arteta wasn't chosen?

In fairness you could argue he did a terrible job at PSG. In his first season he somehow contrived to not win the league despite having a massively superior squad and budget than anyone else, finishing 7 points behind a young Monaco side. Also "masterminded" the absolutely humiliating collapse to Barca in the CL. Second season he went out in the CL knockout and even though he won the league, that hardly even counts as an achievment with PSG, especially given that their closest rivals Monaco had lost half their squad from the season before. Plus from a man management perspective his dressing room was in complete disarray for most of the season and he clearly had very little control over them.

I agree with you that he's a better choice than Arteta but I disagree that he did "respectably well" at PSG.

They may often be petty, childish swines, but there's no doubting Arsenal fans are good with making memes

Very funny. Will be very very interesting to see their net spend this summer. Last season even though they bought Lacazette and Aubameyang their net spend was virtually zero. With a new manager if net spend is below £50m there’s definitely something odd going on there. Or maybe no CL and massive wages is hitting hard. I wonder if this really is them in a proper decline cycle . If Everton get it right they could easily be 7 th.

Right back was the one area of their defence that didn't really need upgrading, at least not in the first XI. I think chances are high that Bellerin will really kick on with a new manager.

I would have thought this new guy is back up, rather than an upgrade

That said, I'd have also thought that they would have a young RB coming through, to act as back up

Not a shocking signing in and of itself, but if it sets the precedent of trawling the bargin-basement for freebies, then Arsenal fans are in for a rude awakening

They'll be fighting with the spammers for these 'bargains'.

I would not be surprised if Bellerin was sold. Both RM and Juve were reportedly interested in him recently.
He is allegedly on £100k per week with Arsenal.
