The last time I watch Sokratis play was a few years ago and he looked a good player then. No idea what he's like now and I cant say I remember him playing in the CL group games last season.

He was the one who fell over when Kane scored his first at Wembley.

They're adding experience to their team which is what they need, it's not a bad signing tbh.
11 of their 24 outfield players are 27 or over. IMO, it's resilience and fight that they need and I'm not sure signing old players on their last big contract is the answer.

If your team is mentally weak and lack experience that is the exact strategy to go for whilst also supplementing them with Torreira (22) Leno (26) also been linked with a 20 year old French mid...I don't see how they could do it any other way?

IMO, they don't lack experience, look how many caps and games PEA, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Ramsey, Xhaka, Eleney, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Kolasinac, Opsina and Cech have played, they lack quality, fight and a spine.

They're addressing their spine, new keeper, new defender, new defensive mid, the quality argument is a red herring...they have always had good players but they lack drive and mentality which comes from the management.

I still think they'll finish outside the CL places btw because the other teams including us are too far ahead of them, well apart from Chelsea who have messed their season up already but Arsenal are doing the right things IMO, making some low key good signings.

If that’s their spending done it’s massively underwhelming imo. These are mid table signings. The only decent one is Leno. I’ve no idea how good Sampdoria defence is but Torreira certainly didn’t stop them leaking goals last season. 60 conceded worse in serie A top 12 by some margin. When you consider the quality they’ve lost since January their squad is getting worse every season.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure rating him by how many goals his side conceded doesn't tell the full story, who scored rated him pretty high going by the looks of things

It’s obviously a bit vague to judge a DM on goals conceded. But 60 was very high for a top 12 team. My point is if you took a shaky defence like Arsenal and put a decent DM infront of them you’d expect the goals conceded to go down. Most would agree that Dier becoming DM was a big part in shoring up our defence stats. All I can assume Is sampdoria defence is absolutely appalling and without him they’d have conceded 75 ?

Whoscored’s ratings are dogshit. He might be a good player but I wouldn’t trust them.

I trust them over someone who's never watched seen him play saying he must be pants because his team let in 60 goals...absolute poverty analysis lol

Can anyone actually explain why they have such little money. They’ve spent £70m and apparently that’s them done. Their squad is currently 32. So they are gonna have to off load at least 7 or 8. Say they bring in £30m for some dead wood. Leaving a net spend of around £40m. Considering it’s a new manager new era that seems a pretty poor outlay for club with matchday receipts over £100m. Where’s all their money ?

Really don't care, at least though they've done their business. We haven't got off the starting blocks yet.

All the money they have had in the bank over the past few years has eroded away due to football inflation. There is no point having cash reserves of 200m and seeing players prices sky rocket. Not being in the Champions League two years in a row has hit their revenue. They also ran down players contracts and saw their player assets value plummet. It's not a surprise to see this happening but at least they've done their business and they can get on with it.
