Emery is Steve coogan it’s all I call think when I see him. And his ridiculous accent and phrasing is hysterical. On serious note their decline and quality of current squad is pretty startling. On paper they only have 4 decent players. And 2 of them are number 9s that really can’t play in same team. And Ozil/mkhi are probably the 2 flakiest players in world football. For me they aren’t an elite squad anymore and will be fighting with Everton and Leicester for 6th. They will lose to Chelsea, West Ham home will then be massive. If they did lose that they could well have our 2 pts from 8 games start ?

They need to simmer down a bit, the manager is trying to implement passing from the back and pressing. Thats going to make it a long season with maybe the odd high point similar to our first season under poch when our defending was a shambles.

Ozil though, I think hes lost his passion for football entirely, I think he has lost the desire, I felt it during the world cup, last season and now again the guy just is not the same person he used to be and I think this is just a money maker to him now. Wont be surprised if he ends up at fenerbeche soon.
He won't be moving whilst Arsenal are paying him £300k+ per week under his fat new contract signed last season. You are right though - he looks like someone who has completely lost desire.

I don't think they should be written off after one game. They have some really good players and while I feel we have a slight upper hand in terms of quality they still have a good side and should expect to finish in the top 4.

Obviously, I think It'd be hilarious if they crash and burn under Emery but it's harsh to judge them on one loss against arguably one of the best sides the Premier League era has seen.

... and the Europa League (proper) hasn't kicked off yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing them racking up plenty of air miles doing trips to the outposts of the UEFA empire. With tougher opponents this coming campaign. Not too tough though. Want them in it after the winter break.

Out of the teams that finished in the top 4 last season, who is dropping out to allow them back in?

I don't think there are any dead certainties in the top four apart from City. I think that we as well as United and Liverpool have better squads than Arsenal, but it wouldn't be a shock to see them finish above us or the other two teams mentioned either.

Let me clarify that I am not saying Arsenal are certain to finish in the top four, but it wouldn't be a huge shock if they did.

Would be a massive shock for me. Tell me who these good players are besides Lacazette and Aubameyang. And by the way what’s happened to Aubameyang legendary pace ? Not sure I’ve seen him skin one CB since he’s been here.

I understand that praise for Arsenal is gonna be through gritted teeth but they have more than one decent player. It's futile to start a discussion about the merits of each player and whether or not they are any good but I wouldn't be shocked to see them in the top four at the end of the season.

As for PEA, he scored 10 goals and had 4 assists in little over 1000 minutes in the Premier League last season. A return most strikers would be pleased with I think.

Allardyce:

"This is the manager's fault. It's his fault. Don't ask somebody to do against Manchester City what you shouldn't do, and you should not play out like that against Manchester City. What do Manchester City do? Press press press. So why do you try and play out when they press press press?

Even the Arsenal crowd cheered when they dropped one in the opposition half. You cannot just force the only way to play is this way in this country.

We are getting obsessed with this stupid let's play out from the back, split the centre halves, either side of the 18-yard box and go and play from there... (it's) utter rubbish to play like that all of the time."

While in theory he might be right, his Everton were 3-0 down at home to City inside 30 minutes. Plus he always come across so bitter critiquing other managers.

He was peak bitterness during the World Cup. Reckon he was sat in his bedroom every night taking a scissors to a pile of waistcoats. Even his promo picture for SSN deadline day looked like a slapped arse. More so than usual.

Our friend Claude has branched out on his own now. Still needs a bit of work on his delivery, but he will always excel in the part where he rips the head off someone who won't get f@+king real!!..

I think their problems are similar to Man Utd, buying and then selecting players more for the hell of it because they can rather than because they're the right fit.

However talented individuals are, I cant understand why you would buy Aubameyang six months after buying someone similar in Lacazette. Don't see how they co-exist in the same team. Maybe if you put one on either flank as a wide forward, with a focal point striker doing the dirty work, but they sold Giroud in the process...

Then on top of these two trying to fit the likes of Ozil and Mkhi, who are unreliable with their workrate. With these forward minded players a team is going to require an ultra disciplined back four and cm2 to just let these guys go about their work in attack, but instead they have people like Ramsey in a cm2, Bellerin flying up the flanks, and making a spine out of people like Xhaka and Mustafi.

Long may it continue.
