Today looks like more good news for Arsenal. If they lose to Chelsea, and Man U get anything they drop to 6th. Hopefully Watford will win too , to close the gap. Although i think i'd happily give the FA Cup to a Leicester this year if it soaked up that extra europa league spot, and Arsenal conspired to finish 7th. I'd consider that one half of a good season.

Whats WTF about that cornpattbuck? You want Arsenal to do well? Well i'd rather they didnt qualify for the europa league, they'd have to shed more wage bill faster. The quicker they end up a mid-table club the better.

Because Leicester and Chelsea have both won the league in recent years partly thanks to no European commitments. I'd rather they had to keep slobbing around in the EL on Thursdays. Also, I want us to win the FA Cup...

If we want to fight for the title over the next few seasons, then it looks like our main rivals will be City, Liverpool and Man Utd (they'll get their act together eventually).

If we just want to finish in the top-4, then our main rivals for the 4th place will be Chelsea, as I still think Arsenal have a long way to go.

Therefore, anything that leads to Chelsea being weakened (e.g. finishing out of the CL places) helps us achieve this secondary objective.

So this result is pretty good if it means Chelsea finish 5th this season, with Man Utd pipping them to 4th.

If you get where I'm coming from? :cautious:

I understand. But the level we are currently at we should be looking up, not down. We are so close.

Arsenal will continue to be consistently inconsistent in my opinion. Once again they spectacularly raised their game for a London Derby but were again helped by an awful performance not dissimilar to ours there in December.

Totally agree re. 'looking up'; we've got to be ambitious.

I think it's just my personality though :); I always look to see what the minimum requirements are for success and also how to build solid foundations, or a platform, to be able to operate going forward. So in this instance it's 4th place, get the CL money, pay for the stadium, become a 'mega-club' in the PL, for years to come.

If that's our 'minimum' requirement, then we'll be doing alright 10 to 15 years from now.

Re. Arsenal being inconsistent, agree with that as well. Firstly, London derbies are always a little erratic in the way the result pans out. It'll also be interesting to see how they handle a little bit of pressure, now that there's a real battle on for 4th place with Chelsea and Man Utd.

I've been a Spurs fan along time... I still celebrate the day we can no longer mathematically be relegated (16 more points for those keeping track).

This is clever from Emery imo. It gives him credit with the fans while he's still settling in.

How much of this can Emery control though? Surely when it happens so infrequently it has to be more down to the mentality of the players.

He’ll spend 3 months at least just deciding what colour cast to have. And by then it’ll be out of season.

Proper shit injury to have. Can't help but feel for the guy - it won't do his pace much good either

Personally I’d Keegan love it if every single Arsenal player did their ACL’s. Don’t get this “wouldn’t wish that on any player” rubbish. It ain’t cancer. They’ll live and even it’s career ending they’re set for life so who cares.

Ideally every single player from every team in the league is on crutches and we win the league with max points and a plus 500 GD
