did post in the Isco thread but as most will not even look at the Transfer Rumours right not thought I'd post in here, sounds like another classic Levy haggle failure

can see a few more teams will be interested in him now

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...am-lost-them-isco-on-transfer-deadline-day-bu

Tottenham in the final week of the transfer window resembled a 2am nightclub drunk stumbling around women in a state of panic having seen the girls they really fancied leave with different men already. Tales of Daniel Levy flying around Europe and being laughed out of clubs were coupled with a persistent link with Joao Moutinho.

In the end they got Clint Dempsey and Hugo Lloris in the final hours but if a Tottenham representative had been successful then it would have been much better than that. AS today say that Ian Broomfield, before he left the club, traveled to Malaga on behalf of Spurs and was hoping to fix up a deal for Isco.

At the time Isco's buy-out clause was €21m, it rises by €1m a year until 2016. Tottenham offered €12m plus Giovani Dos Santos and had their offer refused. AS claim it was this which delayed the transfer of Dos Santos to Mallorca, which was only completed on transfer deadline day.

It's quite an in-depth report, given that it names Broomfield, and if it's true it does make you wonder if Tottenham's frugality holds them back. The sale of Dos Santos to Mallorca will have brought a few million in and to reach the converted buy-out clause of £17m would have been a great deal to get Isco.

AS say it's possible Spurs could be back in come the summer when they would have to match his buy-out clause.

Reads to me more like a journo trying to find a story to fill space - first entence and a half trying to get an audience on board, followed up by mentioning a transfer deal done and one not done - and then getting onto the Isco story.

That said, it would not surprise me if we enquired after Isco or were enquiring in January, he's a good player at a club in a financial crisis (owner wants out)

The source : AS - who reported Modric 'done' about 3 times before it was. AS and the Daily Star seem to have as much credibility

This analogy does actually sum up perfectly my perception of Daniel Levy's last few hours of every transfer window

Pity, would have been great singing Isco Inferno at matches.

I've heard he's on fire at the moment too.

Actually we chose Dembele instead and big Martin Jol thinks that's a damn good deal.
Time they made their mind up isn't it, were we after Moutinho or Isco? seems to me they can make up any story about any player we didn't buy, damn Levy he left it too late to get Bendtner and Juve steamed in.

Good point...to all intents and purposes we thought we had signed Moutinho. Would we have signed Moutinho, Dembele and Isco? We fans might imagine that would have been nice, but, surely, it would have been 2 from 3, and if we had already signed Dembele and thought we were signing Moutinho that would suggest that the player we decided not to pursue was Isco.

I think that considering we are barely turning a profit that our frugality is the only thing that keeps us afloat.

Although on the flip side we should obviously spend £100m every transfer window because it's the only way to progress as a club and if we get into the CL then we will easily make all of the money back in one go.

Isco ahead of Dembele in a midfield three would have been incredible to watch. No opposition player would have ever got the ball off of them! Oh well, too late now. The big hitters will be circling come the next window. Isco is going to be a big star.

It's a shame, because I think he's is exactly what we need in that number 10 kind of role. Our rivals all have at least one of those quick, mobile final third type magicians (Cazorla, Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Silva, Nasri, Kagawa...even the Barcodes have Ben Arfa) and I think it could prove the difference between us and them this season when it comes to breaking opponents down. Dembele could potentially do it, but for all his skill he's not really a visionary. I think he's better suited to playing deeper, and for now we need him there.

We should be making the aforementioned type of player a priority for January imo.

Isco was class in the Champs League. He'll join one of the very top teams now i'm afraid.

Thought Spanish buyout clauses only applied in Spain because of the tax situation. We would have had to pay more.

Agreed. Is the one thing we are missing at the moment IMO. I will be happier when Ade comes in but I'm not convinced by Siggy or Dempsey. In my opinion we need someone who will run at defenders in that role and pose more of a threat to the opponent goal.

Graham Hunter (Spanish footie 'expert') was on Irish radio (Newstalk) tonight. Said that we've been tracking Isco for past 4 years and we could have had him for 5 or 6 hundred thousand on a couple of occasions, but DL couldn't make his mind up. Don't know if that's been in the public domain already, but pretty staggering if true. Personally I've hardly ever seen him play, but Hunter says he's the real deal and will probably end up at Real or Barca now.

this seems to be the case more often than it should be

Reports suggest we identified Oscar long before we actually tried to sign him and before chelsea's interest but never pulled the trigger

We all know about Leandro, we clearly could have signed him for a relatively low few had we made our move and paid what they wanted before he established himself.

Rossi after he destroyed us at the Lane was supposedly offered to us for a third of what we tried to pay a season later

Falcao before he went to Porto but we supposedly opted to play safe with Crouch instead

I don't know why there is such indecision at our club, especially not for a lad like Isco who if was actually available for less than a million pound would have represented no real risk at all.

I hope all these rumours are just rumours because if they are true it clearly suggests Dan Levy is not the best man for the job and we should get a DOF or some kind of incoming transfer advisor to get these deals done before we miss out every time

cant argue with this comment. if you cant compete with the larger clubs you need to get in and grab youth before they become established and sometimes thtat means taking a risk.

And today, it's Liverpool

http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...replacements-for-steven-gerrard#ixzz272Nf8q7y

Although the 32-year-old is not expected to hang his boots up before the 2014 World Cup, Liverpool bosses are thought to want a replacement at the club at least a season before Gerrard retires and have highlighted Isco and Herrara as potential solutions.
Boss Brendan Rodgers is thought to favour Malaga’s attacking midfielder Francisco ‘Isco’ Alarcon, but the 20-year-old is likely to be in high demand, especially as he is in the Champions League shop window this campaign.
Although it shouldn’t take much to prise Isco away from Malaga, with his side struggling financially, the Reds may struggle to compete with Europe’s elite if it comes down to a bidding war.
But Liverpool are also keeping a close eye on Athletic Bilbao youngster Herrera. The 23-year-old impressed during his side’s run to the Europa League final last year and is a target for several clubs around Europe.
