Newcastle's hiring and firing spree in the past two years will cost the club £15million in compensation once the costs of removing Dennis Wise and Kevin Keegan are taken into account.

Since Glenn Roeder was sacked and Sam Allardyce appointed as manager in May 2007, Newcastle have embarked on an astonishing turnover of coaching staff under owner Mike Ashley.

Payouts for Roeder, Allardyce and their staffs totalled £5.72m and the club will now have to pay Wise more than £1m in addition to a potential £8m that is claimed by Keegan and is currently being negotiated.

The huge sums are on top of the £1.8m Alan Shearer will earn if he manages to keep Newcastle up.

Out of curiosity, how much did we pay in compensation to Jol, Ramos, and for Harry? I remember we gave Pompey 5 million for Harry, but I can't remember the other payments. I do doubt that Keegan will get all of 8m, but anything near 15m does look pretty bad.
