As I said earlier, I'm not sure AI is a worldy but I sure as fuck think that if we were in for him, we should be ashamed to have lost out to Moyes' Sociedad. That shit is NOT cool.

The other element that pisses me off is that I was so looking forward to pissing on my business partner's chips (he's a Liverpool fan). Can Sociedad get their own bloody scouts?

Ajer is still only 17 so I can't see him being ready for the EPL for another 3-4 years adn Højbjerg really isn't a DM anchor type of player.
Hojbjerg has more defensive nous than anyone we're using outside of Dier, so he'd be fine to come in and be bedded into the system, but yes Ajer would need to be paired with a short term signing.

The point I'm trying to make is I hope we pick good long term signings, not just guys who tick a few boxes then we'll want to shift them if we go up a cog. McCarthy is one such player.

@Kiwi_Spur spam rated this but it literally has quotes from the player. It's honestly the post with the least SPAM so far in here. Maybe people think the SPAM rating means "delicious"? :D

That being said, we all want to shoot the messenger today. But let's not be too cruel to @grimreaper84 (nominative determinism there mate) even though he has been outed a goal.com reader :p

He was shit Anyway :D

Sorry I should clarify that I mean McCarthy is a short-sighted signing IMO; I've worded that poorly.

6 year contract. Actual transfer, not a loan.

He should have been in Category A in regards our transfer priorities for CM from the beginning of the window, with the likes of Bender and Kramer.

Oh well.

Onwards.

Only good thing to come out of this saga is he is not going to Liverpool

Weird decision from him though, joining a mediocre Spanish side instead of coming to the best league in the world

Ever thought that the reason we missed out on him was because he wanted to go back to his old club...

Lol.

Why didn't we go for him? Would have been an improvement on what we have.

You can say the same about plenty of players making moves to other clubs this window.

We go into the last few days of the window with glaring holes in our squad and a barely improved first 11 from last season.

Its no wonder people are getting twitchy.

Its all very well saying other clubs will also make signings late in the window, but they've already done the core of their business.

He's going home, he shouldn't have left in the first place, luckily he has a chance to get his career back on track unlike Sergio Canales for example.

Thank god for this, I wrote before he wouldn't have fit us in the slightest. Good choice for him to go where he'll fit and be good, he's not made to our style, or the EPL. Best news of the day so far...
