The problem with Eriksen playing LM though is he cant collect it from the defence, and he has very limited space out on the left. He'd dictate the game an awful lot more in the middle

Yeah i agree but i think at the moment he more effective from the left then any other of our players.

Kids quality. Need to start playing him in the Modric role and build the of the squad around him. LVG will love him.

I think he needs to play in the number 10 role but never in a midifield 2 like Modric was asked to do. The kid can't tackle for shit.

While it's nice having him score goals every once in a while with some great free kicks, his corners and set pieces into the box have been shocking.

Really??? I thought we improved..............we're now beating the first man more often!!

And Sherwood continues to play him stuck out on the left.

Reminds me of when Harry played Modric on the left and everyone thought we'd wasted our money.

Everyone thought we'd wasted money when he was played in the middle (under Ramos?) until he was moved to left and started putting in big performances drifting in from wide in to spaces between the lines. After he settled to the pace of the prem he moved back in to the middle.

Eriksen is fine on the left provided we set up the team properly. I

He was picking the ball up from the defence more when playing on the left than when he was playing behind the striker! Ade shifted left and Eriksen tucked in to the middle to get on the ball deep and early. Sherwood for some reason moved away from that style and yes now he doesn't get on the ball quickly enough being stuck out wide

His first freekick last night was horrendous but after that he put dangerous balls in and has been doing so all season. I think last night he was driving the ball in, hitting it like Bale does with swerve, which is why it was a bit hit and miss. Lethal when hit right though

They're different free kick takers. Eriksen relies more on precision and he has the ability to get the ball up and down when it's close to the box. Bale was better from long range but was more reliant on getting lots of power and movement on the ball. Ideally you want a player for both situations. Eriksen is great within 25-30 yards but we don't have anyone reliable from further out. I'd like to see Walker work more on his long range free kicks. His strike against Blackburn was ridiculous but that was a long while ago now.

This is absolutely correct as I remember it. Modric really struggled with the pace, workrate and physicality of the PL on his arrival and whether it was luck or good judgement on Redknapp's behalf, the space, time and experience he gained out wide was the making of him in England. His confidence grew, his game started drifting infield as sought to influence the game further with his metronomic passing, he was rightly moved inside and never looked back. Outstanding player.
Could be exactly what Eriksen needs, that approach was incredibly successful in the previous instance.
