Not the strongest of sources but a link many have been waiting for...

Tottenham's boss Mauricio Pochettino wants Antoine Griezmann in his first XI as he is looking for key singings to strengthen chances of a top four finish next season.

Griezmann had impressed for France during the World Cup in Brazil reaching the quarter-final stage with his country, and having used the tournament to put his name at the very top the French star revealed that he wants a switch to a top European club.

With Pochettino very ambitious ahead of the forthcoming Premier League season, the Argentinean coach needs another striker and a midfielder that would strengthen Spurs' attacking line to compete against big-spending top table clubs.

Optimising the attack

Pochettino showed that a strong spirit up-front is just how he did it to lead Southampton to a noticeable win over top clubs last season, with a 3-1 home win against runners-up Liverpool and a 2-1 against Chelsea thanks to pace; accuracy and a bit of skills.

With Erik Lamela being back in training, preparing for his first real season at White Hart Lane, the signing of Griezmann would give Spurs a real boost in their attacking display, as Lamela would be able to play centrally behind strikers Roberto Soldado or Emmanuel Adebayor, and Cristian Eriksen also serving from the midfield.

The 23-year-old French winger, Griezmann, would have a massive influence on the flank, being able to serve the box with good crosses as everyone witnessed during the World Cup in Brazil. But... This is the least Tottenham would benefit from him.

Griezmann is also a good corner taker, and that would leave Eriksen free around the box to smash one in the net from 23 yards on the rebound, instead of taking corners.

The French talisman took 38 free-kick for Real Sociedad last season and although Eriksen's top-class kick, that found the back of the net a few time last season, Griezmann could be an alternative option that would let the Danish star skilfully score at the far post.

Impact players

Griezmann started 31 games in his 35 La Liga appearances last year and scored 16 goals for Real Sociedad, something that Tottenham would much need for their top four race.

The singing of QPR's Loic Rémy would be a strategic plan as the two-men have already played together with France national team, a partnership that would let Spurs attack fly high.

To secure the services of the well wanted Griezmann Spurs' chairman Daniel Levy would splash around £25million as strict Real Sociedad are not ready to let their top French go easily, although the man wants a summer switch.

Positive quotes, reputable source; I'm off to order my Griezmann shirt as soon as I'm done emptying my load into Jennifer Lawrence's gaping bumhole.

Well he isn't staying at Sociedad, and I'd be surprised if Liverpool sign him, I think Lallana'll take his position. Arsenal could but are they really going to spend £80m net this window? Real could, PSG could, Monaco could, Atletico could, Juventus could, City could, Chelsea could.

Basically if none of those sign him we've got a chance.

Yes. Maybe not on Griez, but yes.

Debatable if City or PSG can. UEFA put a fine on them both and they're not supposed to spend over 49mil and can't have a higher wage bill than last year. Curious how PSG plans to swing that after having already signed David Luiz.

What does appear true is that now is thinking of moving. Previously he has been loyal to the club that took him under their wing and helped him develop and of course playing in the CL last season helped. Now after missing out for this coming season and having blossomed so much as a player and having a good WC he has options to consider.
His buy out is 30 mill euros so around £24 mill at current rates, but more than worth it, he has great skill and vision looks comfortably playing attacking roles across the pitch primarily a left winger he has played lw/aml/am second striker, even played main striker on a few occasions and when playing a freer role has looked comfortable playing on the right. The beauty is he doesn't just create goals he scores them too
Do we have a chance? probably not, but James Rodriguez world cup performances may have seen a few of the bigger clubs switch focus.
We should use Hugo to try and convince him, he'd be a brilliant addition and assuming he adjusted quickly to the PL should be worth double figures a season in goals scored and could also provide similar in assists.
Personally with Bobby Soldado and Ade already here I'd rather we spent our big money on Griezmann than an on a similarly priced striker

Worth a punt for the left wing spot. Meet his buy out, offer him a fair wedge and lets see what happens. If he turns us down it's not the end of the world.

The best possible option for the left wing without shadow of a doubt. Also the most unlikely.

Honestly believe Monaco will pipe up at some point. More money, champions league, chance of silverware, no contest between the two. But if they don't, maybe Atletico? Then us.

Stats are remarkably similiar to Lamela's before he left Roma too.

Would be an excellent signing. Can't see it unfortunately. CL teams will be very interested after his world cup performances.

He's one of the few 'marquee' options who is vaguely possible for us to sign. We're bigger than his current club and could probably just about afford his release fee.
In terms of competition Liverpool are surely out of the race after adding Markovic and Lallana to Sterling and Coutinho, ditto Arsenal post-Sanchez they'll be after a DM, CB and ST before adding another winger. City are about the blow their last bit of allocated budget on Mangala and Chelsea have a plethora of options in that role (not that that usually stops them)

Abroad Atletico could certainly be an option for him as might Milan or Dortmund but I think we're able to rival Milan financially and he's not quite in Dortmund's typical price range.

Of course if PSG want him we're buggered.

I don't think it's completely out of the question but would be incredibly ambitious signing.

-Edit-

Mirror reckon he's definitely leaving though no mention of us and plenty of mention of Liverpool http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...e-griezmann-puts-3835246#.U8DxXc1cyxk.twitter

Was wondering how long it would take to get links to him. Can't think of another available player I would rather have to fill our left wing spot. Although it would take some work I think we could get him if we really tried. I hope there is some truth to this story.

He's really not out of our league. If he wants to move, I'm pretty sure he would consider us, if we were interested.
