Remind me which club is in the most watched league in the world by far... Remind me which league has full stadiums every week and is tough on racism... Remind me which club is in one of the top 5 Cities in the world..

We also have great players in the premier league and the most success goes in cycles. Tottenham had a fantastic debut in the Champions league and were cheated from taking part a second time.

None of the players you mentioned play for Athletico Madrid which incidentally has sold two of it`s best players to Chelsea. Does La Liga have more classic games each season than the Premier League? world wide TV rights says not!!

I am not disrespecting La Liga or Athletico Madrid I am saying we should be able to complete with them. They are not Real Madrid or Barcelona!! They had a great season last year and I wanted them to do well because they were the underdog against all the odds.

Greizmann is not Spanish he is French and the French do well and love it in the UK. Why are people treating me like im in some fantasy world. If we can take a young Argentinian from Roma a team with a far greater history and standing in the game that Athletico then we can persuade a player to come to us and not them.

you have your view and I have mine and in my view some of you are showing disrespect to the Premier League and dear I say it Tottenham Hotspur!!

1. All the ITK indicated that Griezmann was not our first choice, either due to price, other targets, or him not being keen on us.

2. Atlético is a huge draw right now, they have quite possibly the best manager in the world, a great team with most of the core of last season retained, CL finalists and defending league champions. Griezmann will be in the CL and gets to play in a league he knows he excels in. Easy choice IMO.

3. Chelsea bought players off them? Tough shit. Chelsea are guaranteed CL regulars and they pay absolutely exorbitant wages.

Chelsea wages now curbed by Fair Play rules which is why they didnt sign Shaw and they are not guarenteed TOP 4 with United, Liverpool and Arsenal all spending money. I think we need to continue to strengthen also or last seasons spending will have been wasted.

there's so much that is wrong with your post, that it's hard to know quite where to begin. the mere fact, for instance, that you believe Roma to have a far greater history and standing within the game than Atletico genuinely blows my mind

Ok I agree I was over the top with that statement and depending on your point of view you could consider them equal.. but my point is if we can take players from Roma we can Compete with Athletico Madrid for players .......

erm...yes we should

All things being equal I agree but we are richer!! so we can afford to pay more so like Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea, Liverpool and even ourselves have shown we can get top players to come to the premier league from La Liga

Our TV deal doubled this year I believe lets not plead poverty compared to Athletico Madrid..

they're not equal. at all. Roma have won Serie A 3 times, and have no meaningful European silverware. Atletico have won La Liga 10 times, and also won the Europa League (twice), Cup Winners Cup, and European Super Cup (twice). maybe not the most glittering CV when compared to the top clubs, but definitely better than Roma. it's better than ours too, by the way, so maybe that's something else you should bear in mind....

no-one's pleading poverty. just be realistic and not blinded by your lilywhite-tinted glasses, that's all.

Its a shame atletico managed to sign him since they didnt even rate him as first choice.

Atletico wanted Callejon and Carzola but talks broke down a couple of days ago:banghead:

Its pretty disgusting that a club like Atletico is allowed to sign him in one way, as they owe €125m to the taxman and its not known whether they made the payment last year of €30m.

Don't get me wrong, I like Atletico but they cant spend this much money when they have to pay 5% interest on their tax bill of €125m and have to service their debt of €543m. Their cash flow makes a grim reading as well with it being 5% of the huge debt.

Of course, we are assuming they are spending money, in reality they most likely haven't. They most likely brought their players with their third party investment company hence being able to afford these players

------------------- Oblak ------------------------
Juanfran --- Miranda --- Godin ---- Siquiera
-------- Gabi ---------------- Tiago -------------
- Turan ----------- Koke ----------- Griezmann
----------------- Mandzukic --------------------

That's still an incredibly balanced side that could give any side trouble on the counter.

It's levy's master plan! Next year when they have to sell to pay the tax man we lowball an offer and get him cheaper......

Two more goals tonight - now up there with Kane and Lacazette behind CR7 and Messi as top European goalscorers.

Shame we didn't try for him last summer. Would have been a great foil for Kane.

I think he will be off in the summer, he imo isn't owned by the club

Most reports at the time said that Atletico paid £24m for him.
Most reports said Atletico paid £35m for Falcao

Atletico struggled to get the money for their no.1 players so where did they suddenly find €41m to buy players
