André Villas-Boas admits he has not healed rift with José Mourinho
• Spurs and Real Madrid this week announced partnership deal
• 'We have not spoken for quite some time,' says Villas-Boas
André Villas-Boas has admitted that his relationship with José Mourinho remains distant as Tottenham Hotspur hope to forge coaching links with Real Madrid as part of their partnership agreement with the Spanish club.
The deal was announced on Monday, when Luka Modric completed his £30m transfer from Tottenham to Madrid and, together with commercial benefits, it will see the sharing of ideas on a technical level, with coaches from each club permitted to visit their counterparts.
However, it did not sound as though Villas-Boas, the Tottenham manager, would jump at the opportunity. He worked under Mourinho, the Madrid coach, at Porto, Chelsea and Internazionale, but the falling-out that they suffered when Villas-Boas left Inter in 2009 to go it alone as a manager has clearly not healed.
"It's a club co-operation," Villas-Boas said, of Tottenham's partnership with Madrid. "I was working for José for five years but we haven't spoken for quite some time." Villas-Boas was asked whether the club partnership would see him have any dialogue with Mourinho. "I haven't got his number," he replied.
