If anything I don't think he was ruthless enough in the end. He seemed to try and pace things out and compromise on tactics and selection rather than just making the changes he wanted to, the whole thing always seemed to be in transition.
The Friedel/Lloris situation, The Dawson situation, Lamela, Never going to a 4-3-3, his loyalty towards the first team squad and giving them all a chance in case he pissed them off so ending with selections such as Naughton at left back instead of a youngster getting a game in his natural position...
I think the Chelsea situation damaged him, he was trying a more softly softly approach and its led to him getting completely confused tactically. A shame.
