Check out his CV mate speaks for itself:p
Great manager, but it doesn't make sense to claim he is too experienced to finish below us, when he has done so two seasons in a row.
We could just as easily make claims about teams not finishing below us because they spend tens/hundreds of millions more than us on signings and wages.

Perhaps what I should of said is that I think he will finish above us with his resources.

Tottenham’s big game away record
You can read plenty about Tottenham’s bitterly disappointing display against Arsenal, following their bitterly disappointing display against Manchester United, in 16 Conclusions from Saturday. But it is also important to highlight exactly where Tottenham must improve if they are to become serious title challengers.

“It’s important for us to start beating the big teams away,” said Harry Kane on Thursday. “Not just Arsenal, but all of the top six. We’ve done very well at home against them in recent years. But if we want to be challenging for the title, these are the games we need to win away.”

Nailed it. Tottenham’s last 19 away games at big six teams in the league, a run stretching back to January 2014, have produced one victory and nine points. More worrying still is that Tottenham’s otherwise excellent defence have conceded goals at a rate of 2.05 goals per game.

The positive spin is that this is Tottenham’s last problem to solve, but the negative spin is that this abysmal run shows no sign of ending. In the last 12 months alone, Tottenham have lost 1-0 at Manchester United twice, 2-0 at Arsenal, 2-1 at Chelsea and drawn 1-1 at Arsenal. This is the handbrake to progress under Mauricio Pochettino.

hopefully the last few remaining in denial can take their blinkers off and acknowledge what is staring us in the face. we are not going to get anywhere near winning the league by dropping 12-13 points away at our rivals every season. if it couldn't get even close to happening in a season with an almost certainly never-to-be-repeated home record, it definitely won't be happening when our home record regresses closer to its mean.

we need to get better in this regard.

How many points do you think Chelsea dropped away from home last season against their rivals?

You can throw in being the first team to successfully recover from 2 goals down at Juventus' new stadium as well.

Consider that monkey very much off our back. And also take a moment to realise just how good we've become away from home - last season was our best ever away points total in the PL (and possibly even of all time, haven't double checked), and we're currently on a run where we've taken 27 points from our last 12 away games. It wasn't too long ago where we'd only be getting 4 or 5 away wins all season and considered it a good day out if we managed to get on the scoresheet in an away defeat to one of the big teams.

If we can maintain this kind of away form and avoid the teething problems in our home form from switching stadiums that we had last season, we will finish top 3 as an absolute minimum.

Building on what @SUIYHA says in his post, if you look at the away records of the Top 6 in the EPL against each other, it makes interesting reading over the last 2 seasons and the start of this one:

Man City - Played 11, Won 6 (inc 4 last season), Pts 19
Liverpool - P10, W 2 (0), Pts 10
Chelsea - P10, W 2 (1), Pts 9
Man Utd - P10, W 2 (2), Pts 9
Spurs - P11, W 2 (1), Pts 9
Arsenal - P11, W 0, Pts 2

Obviously some of us have played an extra away game against a rival owing to this season's fixtures, but the above shows that, aside from City's freakishly good record last season, we're no worse than anyone else - especially when you consider that Liverpool have now gone 8 games away to a Big 6 rival without winning.

That looks like yet another 'go-to' narrative regarding Spurs which the media are going to have to rethink.

It's just another stick for the 'experts' to beat us with, mate.

Before we got consistent EL footy, we were 'soft' & couldn't see it through.

Then we got regular EL, and all they could talk about was how we aren't good enough for top 4.

Redknapp gets top 4 (I know he did it twice but we only got CL once) but all the 'experts' could say was "This Spurs team is too weak to stay in the CL regularly"...

Then Poch comes along, totally shuts that narrative up, so now all the the 'experts' have to put us down, is "they've got to win something, they can't even beat the top 6 away"...

Now we've started doing that (beating rivals away), all they've got is the stadium delays & our lack of silverware.

However, even Jamie fucking Carragher said last night, "if people are talking about Liverpool being City's challengers, why not talk about Tottenham, who have finished above Liverpool in 8 out of the last 9 seasons?"..

They're getting it mate. Our famous soft centre, our inability to beat or rivals, winning at Stamford Bridge, Emirates, Old Trafford... The likes of Carragher & Gary Neville, they recognise what we're becoming. They recognise that Poch prefers to work with players rather than buy them. They recognise the great strides we've made over the last 5 years.

I just hope our own 'supporters' soon start to do the same thing.
