Its all about options, Its good to have them. He would certainly be rotating with Dier if we got him.

Overrated.

Plenty of other options out there who are either better, better fits, and/or cheaper.

Not to mention we look well stocked in the mid now. No reason to spend that much on that position, striker is a much bigger need.

In the summer I'd have been very happy about this...after Diers performances so far this season, I don't think we even need him.

Can you name some please easy to say other options, didnt we spend all summer looking for a defensive mid? We don`t have a destroyer like Dier in the team.. Most of other midfielders we have are more of the box to box type.

Exactly.

Dier has to remain our first choice DM and I can't see us spending 17.5m on a fall back option. And that's without considering the fact that Witsel is presumably on massive wages.

We do need someone else who can cover Dier, but this link just feels like a lazy re-hashing of our links to Witsel in the Summer.

1) Witsel isn't a destroyer either, so that's a bit of a non sequitur.

2) Dier missed a game and Dembele didn't miss a beat.

3) @Bus-Conductor convinced me it isn't so much the midfield, but the more forward players who are providing the bigger influence. I don't think we need a Dier replacement - I think Dier, Mason, Bentaleb, Alli, and Dembele are good enough for those spots.

2) Granit Xhaka, probably just as expensive except better imo. Go back in for Kramer or Bender. There's really plenty out there.

Absolutely! Meaning when we sell Fazio, Dier can also cover CB and Witsel can slot into DM. However will we spend big money on a DM when we're still after another striker. Can't see us bringing in 2 top players in Jan.

Idk if he's what Spurs need, but someone who can rotate with Dier is very important. Arsenal lost Coquelin due to injury, and they're panicking. Don't want that happening for us!

I don`t think any of those guys are as imposing as Witzel but I agree they would be good additions for us but would they be much cheaper? Witzel quoted at being around £18 million now

I would have 2 of Dier - Witzel and Dembele with Ali moving forward. Its all about squad depth. How many times have we said we have a great starting team but beyond that nothing??

I still think he would be a good signing, but not for a large fee. CM is no longer the priority anymore.

A striker is a must for now.

I think we will be fine as long as it is nothing long term.

Bentaleb, Mason, Dembele and Alli is fine as long as we continue to defend from the front like we have been.

"Granit Xhaka" sounds pretty solid :woot: we should sign him for the name alone...

... not to mention his smouldering bad boy looks :hungry:

Having said that Axel Witsel sounds like he could do a good job in the engine room

It doesn't matter, we don't need any of them.

Yea and Wenger was saying that before Saturday and now Coquelin`s out for 3 months, Look everything can change with a couple of bad tackles..
We have 5 players for that position (plus youth), we really don't need another.

There's other areas that need shoring up much more than CM.

We are gonna be linked with a lot of belgium players for the next few transfer windows. Don't really see much into this...
