Roberto Ayala believes that he will be on his way out of Valencia this summer when his contract expires, as talks over a new deal have yet to materialise.

    Source: SkySports

The Argentinian defender, who will be 34 in April, clashed with the club's sporting director, Amedeo Carboni, and only remained after president Juan Soler intervened.
In recent weeks speculation has grown that Ayala would be asked to open negotiations, but his agent, Gustavo Mascardi, has stated that no such offer has been received.
Now free to talk to other clubs, the veteran is considering his options after being linked to Villarreal, Juventus, Tottenham and Liverpool.
"It appears that this will be my last season at Valencia," Ayala said.
"I want to end my career in Europe and the longer that I can be here the better."
A breakdown in communication between Valencia and Mascardi did not help matters, as the agent fell out with Carboni over the withdrawal of an offer last summer. Mascardi has openly criticised Carboni's lack of experience when negotiating and was angered by suggestions that a medical check would be required before any deal was offered.

If the rumours about gardner are leaving this guy would be a great signing on a 1 year deal, we havnt really got anyone in defence with real experience, all our other centre halves would look excellent alongside him.

    no bloody way!!!!

    ffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. jolegend
    could do with him now

I can't see how this would be a step forward. We should be looking next season to bring Dervite, and maybe some of the other young players, through from the reserves, rather than bringing in a 34 year old to stand in their way.

don't believe some of you guys...

he is exactly the type of figure that we need....

despite being 34, he'll still do a better job than Gardner!!

he'll bring leadership, organisation to the backline and it would be great for Ledley, Daws & others to pick up a few tips from him!

if we did sign him, i would expect him to have a similar effect on the team as Naybet and Davids did!!

    exactly.

Absolutely spot on. He'll be able to sit there barking orders at his other centre half whilst getting him to do his running as well.....so age ain't a problem!

An organiser, exactly what we need as we still don't know when King is back and it's asking too much of Rocha to do it straight away....

Offer him a two year contract, exactly what we did with Naybet....

    Can one fourth something???

He would be great to have and would bring experience to both the other first teamers aswell as to our promising centrebackyoungters Dervitte and Mills who could step up and take his place after a year or two aswell..

Very astute bit of business, should we pull it off.
