He will be a spurs player for at another 2 seasons as will all of our current squad members that Harry wants to keep. We are building an excellent team and we will only improve over the next year or 2
.

We're a bigger force and a more attractive proposition than we were when the Sulk left. I'm not worried at the moment.

If Bale can be a leading light in the Spurs team that shatters the EPL monopoly, he'll go down in history as a much more important figure than if he merely moves to Madrid and helps them continue their dominance.

Essentially, there's more potential Glory on offer to him at White Hart Lane than anywhere else. He's a young man, and I think that will have a strong appeal to him.

Can all these threads be merged into one and put in a special sub forum which I won't look into?
On a serious note I'd be peeved if Manu are going to get money to spend because it will just be juggled debt and more credit. Role on the Eufa fair play restrictions.

It will be very interesting to see what develops at Utd. Hernandez looks pretty decent but their other signings dont convince me, and they still have a massive whole in their midfield. Bale might solve the Giggs problem, but they still need several more players, and if they dont get them, I have a sneaking feeling we could overtake them.

An overdue win at Old Trafford would certainly shock a few people.

I've read today about them apparently promising Rooney they'll give bacon-face £60m to spend, but unless the Glazers are planning on harvesting their organs that cash is gonna have to come from player sales. And there's no way we'll be interested in player-plus cash deals like Carrick + Park + 1/3 of the actual asking price, so meh.

Not worried about Bale going to United, but think they may force others like City and Real Madrid into the market, much like Newcastle did with Rooney a few years ago. If Real make serious advances it'll be almost impossible to hold onto him (unless VdV tells Bale, "the folk at Real Madrid eat welsh people and they never play you. Oh and Jose wants to wear you mum like a hat and pass her around the players on match-day as some sort of clean-sheet bonus". That might persuade Bale to stay another year or two).

That could work.

news now is full bale to utd stories because he just ripped it up in the champs league, the spotlight is on him.it is very easy for journalists to fabricate these stories.man u might be interested but its not like they didn't know about bale b4 wednesday, is it?they also can't afford 50m. I'm confused why anyone would give any credence to these bullshit rumours

Ryan Giggs who has probably been the best left sided midfielder for the last 15 years will probably call it a day at the end of the season. If you have had the best player for those years, you will want to replace him with the current best player in that position, which Bale.

I believe that Bale will be top priority for Fergie and I hope that Bale head is not turned and Levy refuses every offer thrown at him.

I think whoever Manu go for especially domestically City will trump them so perhaps we will get Adam Johnson + cash....only joking.

It wouldn't be that bad to be honest. We could probably replace him with Young and still have a couple of million left over. Sounds like sound business sense to me.

Oh, wow, what's that? Loads of stories about our best player - once again - as we approach a game against one of the big two?? No shit. . I am amazed, 'cos it never ever in a million years happens does it??

F-ing Man Utd and Chelskum think they can do what they want, the best retalliation we've had in recent years (when a story came out b4 the chelskum game about them wanting Lennon) was when Jol came out and said he wanted Robben...

Well, Harry, its all mind games, but would you kindly ask the Spurs press team to release a story of you saying Ferguson is nearly out of the game, no player would wanna join a team when they dunno who will be manager, and that Rooney should've moved on.

Look at newsnow. A lot of Bale to United stories. Newsnow was the same when Carrick and Berbasulk were being followed by Utd.

Look at NewsNow in the Summer...bursting at the seams with stories of how United 'were going to TAKE Modric...blah, blah, blah. These stories ar generated by the uncontrollable urge some folk get to get a stonk-on over <insert current best team>. It's like they wake up in the morning fiddling with their hard wee willies thinking "Dey is betta dan evweebuddy else...how can dey bee eevan betta" (TUG, TUG, TUG = SPURT).
The FCUKing muppets.
That is all it is. He has had some good games for a team other than United so United MUST be going to TAKE him from Spurs (to employ their langauge

Nothing new. Just the children shitting themselves at our world class players drawing attention to themselves.
Gonna have to get used to it folks - in case you haven't noticed we've been upwardly mobile for a while now.

THIS.

Bale has responded quite curtly on at east 1 occasion regarding his future and has repeated his desire to stay at spurs on a number of other occasions. He said words to the effect that " He is very happy at spurs. There is no other club in England he wants to play for. There is no other cub in Europe he wants to play for. Everything he needs to be successful is at spurs. He is staying at spurs".
I know that this can mean very little, and may prove to mean very little, but he didn't go on about being flattered, or football being a strange world where anything can happen etc, he just clearly stated his intention to stay.
He will be a spurs player for at another 2 seasons as will all of our current squad members that Harry wants to keep. We are building an excellent team and we will only improve over the next year or 2.

This...I hope. I have been saying the same for a while, but, I suspect, we will have to be serious challengers within those two years in order to have any chance of keeping him.

I think whoever Manu go for especially domestically City will trump them so perhaps we will get Adam Johnson + cash....only joking.

But, as ELY says, no player is bigger than the club...this, + £20 million to spend, + the satisfaction of telling Red Nose to FUCK OFF at long last = not the end of the World.

Compare the football industry to the music industry.

The music industry has 4 major record labels: EMI, Sony BMG, Warner and Universal. As well as these, the music industry consists of lots of smaller independent labels and privately owned labels. Traditionally, these smaller independent labels are seen by the big 4 majors as a breeding ground for talent. The smaller labels bear the brunt of the financial risk by signing an as yet unknown artist. They'll then spend a few years developing and nuturing their talent, paying to release their music and paying them what wages they can.

But 3 years down the line when their contract has expired, they've improved and everyone knows who they are, they become more financially and commercially viable and so one of the big 4 major record companies tries to sign them. Most artists will move on to a larger company because of the larger sums of money involved. The only trouble is, they won't earn a penny from their music until the £250,000 advance they got given is repaid, or until the cost of the private jet flight from London to NY is repaid.

Sound familiar?

The grass always looks greener on the other side especially when it's covered with huge wages and bonuses but there are other factors to consider.

Man City are still trying to gel their squad together and we've heard story after story about players' unrest at not playing.

Chelsea have been brilliant for the last 5 or 6 years but they have an aging squad and will soon start to look at rebuilding - a process that takes a long time and often involves not winning much - as has been the case with Arsenal)

Man Utd are riddled with debt and definitely wont be spending as big as the papers make out they will. Getting Rooney to sign a 5 yr deal based on that claim is genius. Rooney was 18 months away from leaving for free. As it stands, he'll now cost someone a lot of money. Utd don't have to buy anyone just to keep him happy so if they dont and Rooney continues to be frustrated and reiterates that he wants to leave, he'll cost - otherwise it's 5 years of putting up with what you've got.

Real Madrid have started rebuilding but there's no guarantee you'd get a game given the amount of new stars they have. Moreover, an Englishman moving to Real doesn't always go as planned - ask McManaman, Woodgate and Owen.

As fans of a club with an outstanding talent like Bale, we have to get used to the so called bigger clubs sniffing around. It's what happens. As are transfer rumours, whether they be tenuous or true. We're in a financially healthy position and dont need to sell. The Chairman and Manager are on even keels and are pulling in the same direction, building for the future. We have everything Gareth Bale needs at the moment and his new 5 yr deal proves he's happy.

I wouldn't be worried. I think it'd take an offer of £50million for Levy or Redknapp to even start to THINK about selling him - and no club is going to offer that.

I dont think Bale will go for a while yet, he chose us to join and he chose to sign a new contract in the Summer. Even when he went through the bad patch and lets be honest it was awful he didn't say a word or didnt make public any disire to more. He is clearly loving his football at the lane and hopefully appreciate the work the coachs are doing.

You would be realistically be looking at a £30-40 million price tag to which Man Untd simply dont have so I dont think its a goer.

MUFC can FRO!

Even if he ever does leave, it won't be to go to MUFC. They can't afford him or his wages.

He's ours, and he will stay our player for many years to come. We are going places, and not far at all off genuinely challenging for top honours.

We will finish in the top 4 again this year, and buy those extra 2-3 players needed to take to that next level. This is our time.

We are on the up. MUFC are, if anything, standing still at best or slightly on the decline. In 12-18 months time, they could potentially have lost Scholes, Giggs, Neville and Van Der Sar (retirements), Rio's back could still be crocked, Hargreaves could still be bothering BUPA, and Fergie could be retired.

Stay where you are Gareth my dear boy.
