Gareth Bale will undergo an examination of his right foot under anaesthesia to determine the severity of his sprained ligament.
The Wales international was forced off with the injury in our fixture against Birmingham City and he is likely to be sidelined for at least three months as a result.
"Following a review of all the scans Gareth will now undergo an examination under anaesthesia to determine the damage sustained to the foot," said Sporting Director Damien Comolli.
"Even if the examination reveals that his foot is stable the decision has been taken to bring him back slowly to ensure he does not get a repeat of the injury or suffers any further damage.
"Gareth is obviously disappointed to be sidelined for this length of time but he is still young and we have to do what is best for him in the long-run."
Really bad news. Considering Lee seems to be taking a right kicking recently, BAE out for ever and Bambi the 9ft left back also out. Thankfully Malbs is playing out of his skin so left mid is sorted, but it does give us less options if we need to stretch teams as Steeeeed will always want to come inside.
We need some good news.
