you gotta wonder where we could be if we had a fully fit squad to choose from for a sustained period of time. and carrick back

It’s those kind of thoughts that could drive you insane :-( Fair enough very few teams can go injury free but we tend to lose key players and get many injuries in the same positions meaning we lose the cover too, enough already!

:cry::bang:

Stunned to read 3 months. Spent today waving my fist at the sky, shouting "Oh lord, why do you mock Spurs so?"

God is a gooner.

If Lee is injured it'll end up being a Rocha botch job - really gonna miss Bale but we beat City without him so keep the faith

 Oh dear, finally when we found a decent left footed player, he seems to be a new Darren Anderton. Well, I hope that is not the case! Quick recovery!!

I am going to put my two pennorth in at this stage... I think Matty Taylor would be an excellent buy for us .. Gonna miss Gareth Bale but as somebody said earlier he has a long career in front of him so lets not send him down the same route as Ledley bringing him back too early every time and weakening his recuperative powers... The other bleat I have is this highlights the real inconsistency of punishment in football.. Keano gets sent off for a tackle that put someone out of the game for 30 seconds tops... Yet the tackle from the brummie twat that did this which in my opinion was far more vindictive puts Gareth out for 3 months gets punished with what... a poxy throw in AGAINST us!!!

Well we'll have to go into the market for a leftie now, no doubt. It's a shame though, Bale has been brilliant for us.

Bale is a left full back for fuck sake. We have back up in LYP.

I cant understand all this - "oh we'll have to go to the market now". In my opinion we always needed to sign a left footed player this window, to me this is blatent.

Yes Bale is a cracking player but he was never going to cover the entire left side of the pitch week in week out - this much was obvious during the recent games we played. As i said in another thread it is crazy how we now find ourself without a single left footed player - for a premiership side - the mind boggles. LYP need to cut inside on to the right peg is a real thorn in my side.

Yes Bale has worked out well, very well and i think he is outstanding with a very good future, but it find it hard to take in that in the summer we didnt sign a left footed midfielder of some description. The balance it would have brought, and additional options it would offer would really sure us up and be justification for any such expenditure. Considering we spent so much money on Bent and Kaboul - madness.

A massive blow for THFC. Sad to loose him for that long. He has done well for us in the games he has played.

Definately time to get Matt Taylor in. He wants to come, can play either LM or LB and scores cracking goals. I would also like to see him and Bale in the same team, would prove difficult for opposing players to pick up if they can build an understanding together and swap positions throughout the match.

Taylor would cost a lot. I'd be surprised if Ramos OK'd such expenditure for a player that he probably know's little about. If we strengthen in Jan I'd expect all of our acquisitions to be from abroad, perhaps predominatly Spain.

I do like the Matt Taylor idea also. I think the change would do him the world of good plus he's a Spurs fan (which I always like).

There's always the arguement that we should only be buying players that are 'Top 4' quality and I confess I don't believe that he is but I think that our circumstances dictate that it would be a shrewd move. I think a lesson from the last couple of years is that if you doggedly stick to a transfer policy (e.g. players less than X years old that will not depreciate by more than Y) then you miss a trick. If we'd been more pragmatic and sanctioned Distin/Petrov then we'd be a much better position.

The only catch is with 'Matty' is that Harry would screw us royally. He's already said that he'd want a massive offer to let him go. They'd be expecting to get the money back for the shafting of the century when we sold them three squad players for a crazy amount of money a couple of seasons ago.

I might as well add my 'Bollocks!' to everyone else's.

I'm not sure we'll rush out and panic buy next month, though. Apart from Leapy we have Big Tone (although he's almost guaranteed to break his toe tripping over the touchline inside three games), Rocha, Daniels and Berchiche. That really ought to tide us over, and this could be a worst-case scenario.

As good as he is, I don't think we need him at the moment. I would say he is the best left winger (not left back) we've got, but two of our best players this season have been Lee and Malbranque, and this just means they'll get to stay in the team, which they both deserve to.

The only player we desperately need fit at the moment is Ledley.
