Bale prepared to snub Tottenham transfer despite Zidane stance

I am well aware that his agent - and Bale - are playing the right cards by saying to the press that Bale's desire is to remain at Real M. while knowing that his days at Real M. are numbered. And one can't blame him for still wanting to be part of such a club either. But I don't think he'll walk away with much losses - if at all - should he leave (but then I do not know if Real M. are up to some "trickery" regarding his salary should he leave). There will be some suitors with money for sure, although I am less sure whether Man Utd - after the Sanchez flop - are willing to pay another astronomic salary to a once-up-on world class player. And Chelski looks likely have a transfer ban imposed on them.
Thing is - according to Marca - Real M. will have him play in their Uner 23 team should he refuse to move...
but if he calls their bluff, when the window closes, is Perez going to tolerate ZZ not using a TOP asset who is costing the club 600k per week? Particularly one who Perez actually likes a lot.

True ...but Perez may not have much of an option that to tolerate ZZ not using him. Perez saw too clearly how Real M. did after ZZ left -and I am sure he'll walk away again if Perez again start giving him "trouble". And there aren't many candidates left - as almost all the top head-coaches/managers have been hired and fired (there's Klopp and Pochettino left...)
ZZ will be given a lots of money in order to rebuild the team so even Perez should know he better let ZZ get his will - even when it comes to Bale.

This scenario could lead to the next "bosman"
RM have contractually agreed to pay Gareth Bale a fixed sum of money, plus any agreed upon bonus' for a period of X years.
He hasn't asked to leave.
He hasn't been unavailable to play.
He hasn't even been bad when he's played.

No one else is offering to match his salary.
RM are not in financial difficulty making paying him an issue.

Does he not have a case that they should make him "whole" by topping up any wage reduction he may take, for the remaining period of his contract?

If he's on £500k a week and "only" gets offered £250k, should RM not be liable to pay him what they agreed to pay him for that time?

And if that ever happened, and I think it could one day, we may see a very sudden end to teams chucking insane salaries at players for 4-6 year contracts. We may actually see teams defer to our style of medium to low basic salaries with lots of performance bonus' thrown in.

which in turn makes me very cautious about a sentimental return...
Agreed. We’ve all moved on. I think it would be more trouble than it’s worth. Pochettino is talking about writing new chapters in the story.

Some times footballer get too hung up on money. Bale has made a fair whack on sponsorships and contracts, Real Madrid clearly want rid of Bale and for the sake of playing the game he should come to an agreement with them to leave ... it doesn’t have to be Spurs. A player of Bales quality should be playing , people supporters want to see the best playing.

Definite game of poker going on with between RM and Barnett (Bale's agent). RM know they probably have to pay him off (a la Sanchez at Utd) but obviously aren't keen on it and want to explore other options. Hence the threat to stay and pick up his money if they don't agree to a pay off (likely via a loan deal).

For those interested check the Bale thread for an excellent post by @minesadouble on the situation in detail.

Cracking point and you could be right. RM and Barca are in massive financial trouble because of this (See Sam Wallace piece today). Barca's wage bill is estimated to be circa £650m

If Messi wants his £50m a year at least put a chunk behind bonuses he'd likely hit regardless.

The thing is that he is not in Zidane's plans for next season so if he did stay at RM he wouldn't play many games anyway. Better to go somewhere where you are going to get regular first team football, than being a bench warmer or not even in the match day squad, which is probably what he will be doing next season.

We also have remember that RM would want something extra in return if they were going to subsidise Bale returning to Spurs.

his salary is madness. utter madness.

even half his salary is too much! think the most i would pay is 30% if they want 10Mil.

oh and 10M, i will split it, they get 2M every time he plays 5 games.
