Gareth Bale is hoping to use Wales' upcoming two games to try and win his place back in the Tottenham side.

The former Southampton defender has endured a frustrating campaign at White Hart Lane this term, failing to hold down a regular place in the side.

Bale is eager to play in Wales' two World Cup qualifiers with Finland and Germany over the next week in the hope of catching the eye of Spurs chief Harry Redknapp.

"I have been in and out of the team and we have been kind of in a relegation battle," Bale told Sky Sports News.

"It has been kind of up and down, but hopefully these two games I can play well and hopefully boost my chances of getting back in the Tottenham team."

complete reversal from the norm of a player using games for his club to earn him a place with the national side. Playing for Wales to get in the Spurs team, classic.

BAE is untouchable at the moment, good luck Bale lool xD
  3. Chedozie
I think Bale is to tall to make it as a top class left back.

:???: How does his height come into it? Surely it is an asset if anything at all.

he was playing so well until he got injured two yrs ago at newcastle - since then i have no idea what has happened to the guy!! he shows good touches but as pointed out above - Benni is untouchable at the moment!

I hope it is successful; we still need an in-form Gareth Bale, either at L.B. or our 'problem' position, Left-Mid.

Same here - particularly for the Premier League?

Two years ago he was a Southampton player. His big injury that ruled him out until this season came halfway through last season in the home loss to Birmingham as a result of a deliberate stamp by Fabrice Muamba

Maldini aside, all the great left backs have been small, past players, Lizarazu, Roberto Carlos, Danny Thomas.

Of current stars, Philipp Lahm, Ashley Cole, the list goes on and on and there all small.

I eventually foresee a midfield of Lennon and Bale out wide with Modric and Palacios in the middle. All between 19 and 23, so can grow together and play for many years to come.

    But not yet.

I'm trying to think who you are talking about. Bale has not been with us two years.
  12. Chedozie

They are talking about Gareth Bale, he joined us in 2007.

If Bale went half way to outdoing BAE on current form, I'd be a very happy man. It would more than solve the LB issues we had a year ago, without spending a single penny...

he joined 20 months ago and got injured 15 months ago against a team who are certainly not Newcastle.

Danny Thomas played right back for us and England.

Ok it's not quite 2 yrs, but its the best part of and the best part of 2 seasons, i didn't say it was a newcastle player who injured him.

I was helping Coyboy decipher whom pheg25 was talking about.
  17. Chedozie

I saw him play left back for us on more than a few occasions and he was small.

i know you didnt, he did (phegg)
