Thought it might be worth having a thread to keep an eye on our group opponents form and injuries etc, and any good insight the knowledgeable may have. Saw inter won 3-0 today and Psv 4-0 up at ht. I gave up my BT subscription so I’m a bit out of touch with Italy and Spain. So any insight will be appreciated.

PSV won 6-1 they are flying 12pts from 4. Obviously not great standard but won’t be a gimme for us.

Unfortunately Sky no longer do La Liga and BT no longer do Serie A.

Good idea for a thread. One benefit of being in the CL is it makes other leagues that bit more interesting. Inter matched us with a 0-3 win at Bologna (Nainggolan, Candreva, Perisic). Didn't see it live but might look at the highlights later.

Perisic is very dangerous, can see him being key for them in our games against them

Inter for their first win in their third game of the season. Frustrating start losing to Sassuolo in their opener and drawing against Torino despite being 2-0 up at half time.

Last night they had icardi and new signing Lauturo Martinez out with muscle complaints. Both will be back after the international break. Keita Balde (remember that disappointment from last year?) filled in up front on his debut.

There was talk or moving to a 3 at the back but they stuck with the back 4. Nainggolan looked very good and took his chance for the opener superbly. Beast of a player.

I said at the in the Serie A thread that they would struggle with consistency in the league but they have so much talent that a CL run is possible with a favourable draw. They don’t have a favourable draw but they do have an immense side.

At full strength maybe this:

———————Handanovic
———Skriniar — de Vrij — Miranda
Vrsaljko - Brozovic - Gagliardini - Asamoah
———Nainggolan — —Perisic
————————Icardi

Or

——————Handanovic
Vrsaljko —Skriniar — Miranda —Asamoah
————Brozovic —Vecino
Balde ———Nainggolan———Perisic
——————Icardi

Bench: De Vrij, Dambrosio, Dalbert, Gagliardini, Valero, Politano, Candreva, Lauturo Martinez

Good side if it clicks - could take points off anyone

BT no longer have Italian football and I think Sky have lost the Spanish football so not so easy to follow anymore, gone to some other channel. You can get highlights on http://hoofoot.com .

Yeah they look like they’ve got some good names in that squad. Will be a hard game that’s for sure. We will have to beat them at home to make sure we progress and if we don’t then I think we might have to beat Barcelona at home. Not impossible but a big ask.

Inter have brought in a lot of new players, so playing them at the San Siro first could be ideal. As others have mentioned before, they’re lacking in consistency and still figuring out their best team.

Some excellent players though.

In some ways this could be a tougher group than last year in that PSV are no gimme and imo inter might be slightly tougher than Dortmund. But sounds a bit crazy to say, I actually fancy us a bit against Barca. Physically I think our height and strength will trouble them. A group I wouldn’t be surprised if we won and vica Versa if we came 3rd. It’s such a shame Spanish and Italian football is now more of a hassle to watch.

Barcelona 2-1 up against lowly Huesca (never played in the top division before) after conceding in the first minute.

Make that 3-1.

F**king annoying result. It's all about how we react now. The frustration is if we defended set pieces properly we probably win that one.
