If you get a chance check out the build up to Rose’s miss a few minutes after where he somehow plays an even better pass through the eye of the needle with Messi hounding his back.

Yeah i remember seeing that too, it almost gave me an orgasm.

They'd be guaranteed to finish above us in the prem then. Them having to play more competitive games is better for us.

Especially as they haven't been travelling well. Lost them all since the since the semi final against Roma last year.

It hasn’t really been mentioned too much but the quality of our goal from start to finish was sublime. It started on our own goal line then 10 seconds or so later the ball was in the back of the net.

Couldn't agree more. Moura accelerating into space, Lamela teasing with the ball allowing players to get into position, Llorente staying wide creating space for Moura, Kane's quick first touch on the turn and creating the gap. Nothing earth shattering by itself but looking like a well oiled machine.

it has to be added that the decisionmaking of at least three defenders for Barca is horrid. First, Alena couldn't be bothered to get into position as the second defender covering Lamela. (and he continued that lack of effort until the goal). That forced Lenglet to act as second and still cover Kane. As slow as he is, it was crazy how far forward he moved which didn't give him enough time to turn and recover when Kane receives the ball. That in turn forced Vermaelen to leave the middle which made sense, however, Miranda decided to stick with Llorente rather than slotting over to cover the man closer to the ball. If i'm the Barca coaching staff, they should be forced to watch the build up to the goal 30x.

To be fair on Rose the miss only looked worse than it was because the build up was so majestic. On the night Son, Lucas, Kane and Eriksen missed easier chances, but this is not mentioned in most of the ratings when Rose' is.

Not sure any of the other chances missed were easier than Rose's with the exception of Moura's header. But I agree that Danny's shouldn't be picked on. He got his weight wrong in the excitement/tension of the moment. Side-footed and skied it rather than laces through it leaning forwards. I guess it's easy for people who've never had a chance to score a historic 90th minute winner at the Nou Camp to criticise!

What was disappointing weren't any of Son's 3 shots saved in themselves, or Eriksen's saved, or Kane's skier (felt it was 50:50 pen) or his header as individual misses; it was the cumulative effect of NONE of them being taken and going in. At this level you can't usually take 1 out of 10 or so decent opportunities. However, on the bright side we created that many in the first place.

Some of the moves we put together would have had the pundits punching their pants if it had been Barca.

Great example of why we play from the back.
Some other interesting points in that. First, Rose starts it all with a right- footed pass in his own penalty area, which keeps the momentum going.Davies wouldn’t have played that pass, and the move probably stops there.

Second, Kane assists with as good a left-footed cross as any of our lefties would produce.

Third, Lucas steals the finish from Llorente. Good to have two strikers attacking the space, but feel for Llorente, and there’s still the suspicion that Lucas has a way to go before he fully clicks with his teammates.

What?! Theres a defender between Lucas and Llorente.. it would have been foolish to let that pass him.

I wasn’t suggesting Lucas did anything wrong, just that he was attacking the same space as Llorente. Ideally, you’d like your strikers to provide options, but the overload works too.

Stealing the finish has a bit of a connotation..

Stealing the finish has a bit of a connotation..
The connotation was intended to be ‘too quick, too ruthless’. The point was ‘maybe Lucas could have made his run elsewhere’. That’s a common theme with Lucas, despite him scoring a crucial goal yesterday. He’ll be even more valuable to us when he starts to complement his teammates. And vice versa.

If Lucas made his run elsewhere, the defender would've cleared it as Llorente was behind the defender. I don't see the issue. It was a great run Lucas made and a great finish.

Had lucas ran else where that's not a goal. Lucas recognised he had to get in front of the defender, Llorente idles behind the defender.
