OK. Due to the squad situation, as Poch mentioned, if we're getting a foreign player in, there must be one going out. Who's leaving?

Would imagine dembele. Think he would of left already if we had replacements. However the China window is open for January window. Sad as that is he is really struggling now.

What is it with us and stellar defensive midfielders who get ruined by unlucky injuries/tragic life events? Palacios, Sandro and now seemingly Wanyama have all gone from midfield rocks to husks of their former selves in a very short timescale. Why can't we have nice things?

@Ossie85 - How is his temperament? I know the WC match was a one off but how do you think he would adapt to the prem? If you can't hold your temper you are useless in the prem. Walking red card etc.

I think he would adapt to the prem, and I don't see any problem with his temper. I didn't watch the WC game everyone is talking about, so I don't know what happened there, but I can't remember any problem with him at boca

The thing is he's a pure DM. He never goes forward. I'm not sure we need him, unless there's something wrong with Wanyama. He's not a Dembele replacement

Imho firstly, we don’t need him, for the very reasons you stated. Therefore, I am very underwhelmed. But there is truth in we have agreed (verbally) but not officially offered. And personally pray we don’t.

Bring in someone like Rabiot alongside him and midfield would look a bit different...

Don't know of the transfer player threads are still running but the n'dombele one pretty much shows we know nothing about foreign midfielders who haven't yet made it

Very few wanted, most thought it was a typical cheap spurs signing and we needed to aim higher

Now the dude is gonna cost someone 70 million +

When you say we know nothing about foreign midfielders - do you mean the scouts and club or we as in this forum?

In the summer he was being touted around the 40-50m Mark which clearly we wasn't interested in so definitely not interested now if the price has gone to 70m.

There’s only two possibilities if barrios comes.
1. Wanyama is off
2. Dier is taking Toby place at CB, which now seems unlikely. So I’d presume it’s 1.

We on this forum, we watch the epl. We haven't got time to be streaming games from all over the world on a constant.

A couple of world cup displays is not enough, per example based on the world cup alone we'd be horrified if spent more than 10 mill on rahem sterling.

Levy is never opening up his wallet to compete with arsenal and Liverpool let alone the Manc clubs and Chelsea so I'm glad we continue to try these things

We are an Eric Dier injury away from being totally powderpuff in midfield, Wanyama seems to have gone the way of Sandro and Palacios.

Oh yeah we know jack shit haha

I had thought you meant the scouts - im hoping they well know given it is their jobs, then again it is hugely annoying we couldnt bring someone in in midfield.

I dont know this Barros guy but did see him a couple of times at the world cup and from those viewings he just seemed to be a bit of a Zokora but like I say I dont know too much of him.

In December 2017/ January this year his name popped up in the transfer thread. A few posters highlighted his potential.. It may have been BC. It was pointed out back then a deal would be difficult as he was on a 1 year lone from his parent to Lyon.

This. Quite surprised that some people are against this signing. Wanyama has had injury and fitness issues for a while. That leaves Dier as our only DM.

For £20m I don’t see a lot to grumble about. Yes we still need a long term successor to Dembele but that’s a different type of midfielder.

Agree from what I've seen of him this would make sense from both a business and playing sense can't see what the problem is.

The midfield next season will be imo
Dm Dier/ barrios or new signing
Cm Winks/new signing
With the likes of Skipp and the youngsters a further back up.
Wanyama and Dembele injuries are becoming to big of an issue
