Hercules said there was truth in the rumour.
I see the silly lol face of sarcasm Believe what one wants, and I will refrain from giving my comments, to things I know are factual. I will leave that there. Not aimed at the poster.

It's slightly alarming how we continue to pick atheltic prowess and power in midfield over technical ability.

Like you, I would like to see us go for more by way of creativity and ability in the middle, players like Modric or even Carrick, but I think we have to accept that Pochettino works on the premise that first we mustn’t concede, and then the front four should have enough to trouble the opposition. Hopefully Winks builds on his current promising form, makes himself indispensable, and shows Pochettino the value of having more thought over brawn in the middle, and that if this player puts in enough work then only one pure dm is needed.

That said, I do believe that if Wanyama is broken we have to replace him.

Agreed on Wanyama needs to be replaced. Just hope for a more offensively capable player. We pass backwards and sideways too much already. I want to limit that as much as possible. Was hoping Berge could be that player.

Also, is it not bad business practice to verbally agree deals and then not follow through on them? I can imagine no one would take our offers seriously if we had a reputation on backing out of deals. As I believe thats what Hercules is sort of hinting at here that we have told them we'll do this number but it isn't actually agreed to and then believe we had a deal agreed for Andre Gomes this summer and backed out of it..

If that’s true, thank god for that

I think it's been said by ITK that we agree personal terms with an available player and then decide whether to push the deal through. It makes sense considering how we've been gazumped in the past when we have a transfer fee agreed but another club comes in and blows us out of the water on wages. As for Barrios, we have Skipp and Onomah waiting in the wings so I'd assume any interest is tentative at most.

Skipp and Onomah are entirely different players. Skipp is also 17.

Not sure it’s that crazy? Our youngsters when given the opportunity usually do better than a lot of our fancy new signings from aboard

Ah yes, Edwards doing much better than Son & Lucas. Also CCV is such a better player than Sanchez you're right.

Or mason and beneleb doing better than capoue or Paulinho or Kane doing better than soldado or adebayour.
I wasn’t just talking about the last year

It’s not worked out to bad for us so far and Pochettino quite often drops Eriksen or dele back to get on the ball more if needed
Always lets us down in the end though. Our passing has been subpar for several seasons now. Its why without Eriksen on his top game we look like dog shit. Because we have athletes in midfield, not passers.

They're doing great for us now, glad we stopped looking for replacements.

Poch used youth when the squad was a mess, full of players with poor attitude/fitness. He used youth as a way to have an impact and set his tone.

Since he recruited his own players/picked the ones he rated from the original group, the youth policy has been completely scrapped at first team level. Barrios would fit into this category and I wouldn't expect to see much of Skipp/Amos.

Wouldn’t say they are entirely different. Everyone reckons Onomah best position is exactly where Skipp plays. I’d only say they are entirely different based on the fact Skipp actually puts a shift in and is full of energy. Where as Onomah let’s the game pass him by and strolls around like he’s on a Sunday afternoon walk in the park. And Skipp is 18 by the way.
