I had this discussion with my mate all day yesterday at the pub, we NEED a midfielder who will not only have a go at the opposition, but will have a go at our boys when heads drop and they're all thinking "Oh no, we're 2-1 up, i bet we'll let one in, in the last 30 seconds again". Barton is that kind of player, but, as said, he is a right beeping blanker.. I was trying to think of a player who would fit that mould for us, unless we have someone in reserves or younger, I cant think of anyone who fits that bill bar from Gattuso (who is out of our league). Any ideas? My mate reckons we need to look at Championship level, i'm not convinced by that.

people who cannot see the talent barton has, regardless of his attitude and persona are complete idiots
Help us all out then buddy, being a Spurs fan i don`t take a lot of Man Citys games in(he`s not played for newcastle yet)

His talent being?? Exactly where has he made his name of being this great midfielder??

Maybe you could post a link to "youtube" show us a little montage of his great moments on a football field.

If you can`t find any, just type in "porridge" lol cos thats what he may end up doing.

He's good, but not that good, and divided City fans for the obvious reasons: whatever talent he has must be weighed against his complete inability to control his temper, his propensity for collecting cards like some collect stamps and his sheer nastiness. He's a total liability.

The other day he said that if it hadn't been for him, Dunne and Richards City would have gone down. It's significant that he failed to mention Distin. I've been told that the day he attacked Dabo he was absolutely seething because Dunne, not he, had been voted Player of the Season; he was looking for trouble, and wasn't going to look for it with Dunne.

I'm just amazed that there are some people who apparently still feel we should have signed him.
