As you may have heard over the weekend, Bournemouth v Burton was postponed just an hour before kick-off due to a flooded pitch, which meant some Burton fans made a fruitless 300-mile round trip at the weekend. So, the Bournemouth faithful had a whip-round and raised over £3,000 already to get Burton fans back down for the replay. Bournemouth fan David Whitehead had the idea after recalling how hospitable and generous Burton were when The Cherries won promotion to League 2 in 2010 at Burton's Pirelli Stadium. But as a little icing on the cake, the donation level has been capped to cover the cost of the coaches and the rest has been donated to a Charity nominated by Bournemouth gaffer Eddie Howe, who chose Cancer Research.

People are pretty fucking cool sometimes, and it's nice to see a good gesture followed up with something as brilliant as this. Football could do with a few more Burton's & Bournemouth's.

Nice touch by all involved. We wouldn't be quite as cynical about footballers and owners if they appreciated the personal side of supporting a club a bit more like in this case.

Last time I was in Bournemouth I donated £100 to 3 struggling dancers. I feel like I did my bit. Great stag do too.

A few of my relatives have Bournemouth season tickets (they are supposedly West Ham fans but have decided going to Bournemouth is a less upsetting way of spending their time).

I've been with them to a couple of games and they're a great club. They've been building nicely for a few years now and it's great to see them in the Championship and doing pretty reasonably.

A fantastic gesture and I'm quite staggered by the amount -

much more impressive than the Theo Walcott Saturday whip-round!

Lovely gesture, but I thought this thread was going to be about sexy football fans. It's a fail from me.

I donated 140 to some similar people, was a normal Saturday night for me though.

Ok then, in the interests of fairness due to the misleading title, here's Miss Bournemouth, she probably supports them or something:
