Thought Davies and Trips did fine last night. I don't think either can be blamed for the goals we conceded.

i dont think walker staying and not signing Aurier has made any difference to our season and it allowed us to bring Sanchez in, without him and Tobys injury i think we would be a lot worse off
Disagree. Sanchez replaced Wimmer and Fazio (Sold after Loan to Roma) His signing had nothing to do with Walker leaving. I suspect had Walker stayed, Sanchez would have been signed against to exits of both Wimmer and Fazio

Lets put it another way.

Are Davies and Trippier an elite set of full backs that are fit to play for an elite champions league club?

But neither of those transfers out put meaningful funds back into our transfer kitty. It was the money from the Walker transfer that funded Sanchez.

We're not an elite club.
This is very much the truth. Whether we like it or not. As disappointing as this week is, we have lost to an elite team. No two ways about it, Juve are in the final consistently in recent years.

I don’t think blaming players is the answer or the team changing, as team and club we’ve been handed a massive lesson from the masters of knockout football. This is a learning curve for everyone, fans also.

As a club we are constantly improving, previously it was always finishing 5th and Europa League knockouts. Now challenging for titles and Champions League.

Back on track, for what it’s worth I think Ben Davies is one of our most consistent players and has been for 12 months. He hasn’t been found out any more than Dembele, Vertonghen, Eriksen or Kane did this week.

By the way, WTF were Wales thinking about scheduling matches in China at this time of year? Thats a hell of a long trip for most (all?) player who are based in Europe.

Statically only Ashley Young has been better than him.

Ashley Young is statistically better at swallowing bird poo.

There are not a whole lot of LBs in the PL who are better than Davies this season. There are a couple, but not many.
Alonso, and that's about it. Young and Delph have been good for the Manchester clubs, but not categorically better than Ben imo.

It's strange to see the criticism here. He's been outstanding this season. You can go on about needing elite fullbacks, but Ben has been performing at an elite level this season.

Only just about to turn 25 as well, far from the player he could end up being.

The type of left-back we would all be begging Levy to sign if we lost Rose.
