Notice that Davies has been getting a lot of hate on here recently.

Personally, I've always rated him as a solid 7/10 squad-player; the type of hard-working professional that Fergie used to get the best out of at Utd, when they were needed 15 or 16 times a season.

Also, the type of player that doesn't look bad when the other 9 out-field players are playing well.

However, I do agree with those who say that we need to upgrade our options at fullback. The days of Walker and an in-form Rose bombing down the touchline, scaring the hell out of the opposition, seem to be long gone.

PS Would it be easier if we had all the 'player watch' threads in one place, pinned to the top of the Spurs Chat forum?

He’s out form, no doubt. Happen’s to every player. Nothing to fret about though i’m sure he’ll get back on track. He’s been pretty consistent for the last couple of seasons

I appreciate his hard work and that he’s fought hard to be a starting player but it’s time to go, watching him play is soooo frustrating
We desperately need at least 1 LB

One of Grimaldo, Alex Telles or Ferland Mendy would be good

Looool

He’s just out of form. If you sold every player who went through a bad patch you’ll be changing the whole starting 11 every transfer window

So he’s been out of form for months is that what you’re saying? Or that he just isn’t good enough and doesn’t fit the system

I agree. One of the few obvious weak links in the team in my opinion. He's a stable and good LB coming of the bench when needed as a backup, but as a starting rotation for a team looking to push for a league title and the likes, he's simply not good enough. Rose should be a starter throughout when available, even though we know Poch likes his rotation, but for the longer term, i'd love for us to try and find a real up and coming talent that can take that position to the next level again.

He’s had a bad start to the season. He doesn’t have anything to prove considering he’s been consistently solid over the last couple of seasons

I do think eventually we do need to replace him at LB, just bc stylistically we are so muh better with a rose type fb. But I hope we keep Ben around and move him to CB as Jan gets older.

Criticism and honest assessment
when players play poorly
as Davies has for some time
IS NOT HATE.

Ben Davies seems like a great professional etc etc, but he is a number 2 at best. He wouldn't get in any of the top 4 teams in Spain, England, Italy and Germany. We massively need a LB in this team, anyone that says otherwise is chasing mediocracy.

Currently our full backs are super week. If i was a winger playing against Tripps or Davies i'd be laughing. They should not be starters, great squad players but a current soft spot in our team.

Well considering he regularly starts for us I would say that he does in fact get in a top 4 team in England.

The pitchforks get pulled out pretty fast with this guy. Our best spells in terms of results have generally been with him at LB, but there's no doubt he's playing pretty far below what he's capable of. Like many in our team.

I think him and Trippier make people torn.

On one hand they are good full backs.

On the other we performed so well when Walker and Rose were using their energy to get up and down the wing all game that we want to replicate it.

Part of me thinks we are unlikely to replicate it so should adjust our lineup to fit our current players.

But then I think we can replicate it and Trippier and Rose don’t suit us.
