The pitchforks get pulled out pretty fast with this guy. Our best spells in terms of results have generally been with him at LB, but there's no doubt he's playing pretty far below what he's capable of. Like many in our team.

4th best FB in the league last season. Something like 8 assists and a couple of goals. Funny how quickly people forget.

EDIT: (from Sun Dream Team). Davies was a relative unknown entity when he initially arrived at Spurs from Swansea in 2014.

Since his move however, the 25-year-old has emerged as one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League and also one of the best full-backs.

The Welshman was an ever-presente in Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season, ending the campaign on a respectable 149 points in fantasy football.

Davies chipped in with two goals and six assists last season, as well as picking himself up one star man award and 20 7+ratings.

If Davies can produce these kind of figures, imagine what a player like Mendy or prime Rose could. He is simply not good enough to be a starter. A bench option yes, but as clearly evident for every slightly harder game he's just 1 step below.

I don’t think Davies is a bad player, but his form is worrying.

His ability to pick out the first man (of the opposition) when delivering a cross is actually impressive.

I have faith that he can get back to previously high levels but it’s simply not clicking for him at the moment.

His level is Southampton and we start him against all the big boys. Just don't think he's cut out for this level. He's been shredded in games against Liverpool, City, Juve, etc.

We need 2 new LBs in the summer. Won't get them though.

Seems very devoid of confidence. I see it in the knack of doubting for a split second wether to commit himself or not, and that split second being the difference from winning the ball or getting skinned or making a foul. Going forward, his passing is way off his ususal level.

It's hard to have confidence when you're not good enough.. God I miss that time when we had Walker and Rose who were able to cover possible mistakes and help our cb's, and also bring something to attack with their speed and ability to bring the ball in the box. We have a problem with our fullbacks and hopefully Poch can see that unlike many of our fans.

Would definitely prefer someone better and more athletic than Davies as LB, but as it is, it's really a coin toss between him and Rose. We know Davies is way off his best, and we can only hope that Rose is, due to his injuries.

Everything he is doing on the football pitch at the moment is poor.

Poor first touches. Poor headers to the opposition. Poor dribbles. Poor passes.

I thought last night he was the worst player on the pitch (until Trippier went full Trippier).

He's really so out of form this season it's terrible. Playing with zero confidence.

It’s just so strange as start of last season he was playing really well both defensively and offensively and was putting in some nice crosses to boot.

He didn’t even have a World Cup either so should have been nice and fresh for this season.

I think he is better than certain right backs that cannot be named to legal reasons and maybe it’s a case of being out of form for him at the moment, although unusual for a full back to lose form.

I think him and Trippier make people torn.

On one hand they are good full backs.

On the other we performed so well when Walker and Rose were using their energy to get up and down the wing all game that we want to replicate it.

Part of me thinks we are unlikely to replicate it so should adjust our lineup to fit our current players.

But then I think we can replicate it and Trippier and Rose don’t suit us.

I can't stand watching Davies sometimes I'm not gonna lie. He can be slow to close down his man, doesn't really apply pressure and just lets them cross or come inside and cross or doesn't bust a gut to chase back when he's too far forward or out of position and just has such a lethargic feel about him, it's frustrating to watch. He gives virtually nothing going forward to any bit compensate either.

The amount of times the camera pans to him after a play & he has his arms thrown up in the air cursing himself says it all.

Not good enough at all, although his attitude cannot be questioned.

If we had a more reliable LB fitness wise than Rose it would be fine to keep him as a backup.

Although they are both primarily RBs but as both have played LB before, I’d rather play Aurier & KWP as our fullbacks until Rose is back or when we get a better LB in the squad.

KWP may not have had a great game against the spammers but he has proven, in the past, that he can play in the PL - even getting MOTM in the two league games that he played in last season.
He needs more game time to get up to speed in the PL and with the current poor form of Trippier & Davies, this is as good a time as any, to give him more game time and also to get used to playing with the other first teamers in the squad.

Christ I had to dig for this. Two really solid performances at CB alongside Toby. I think that might be his best position long term.

Ben Davies still only 25 - o_O

Davies has been playing in LB for majority of games in last 3 years yet he is not considered as our best LB. Probably correct. He as played LCB for Wales. But his 2 last 2 games - He is so comfortable at CB. With Jan nearing 32, he can certainly step in his shoes. Davies has so much potential at LCB than LB going forward.
He is very decent on the ball, good aerially. From the last 2 games, he seems positionally aware. I hope Poch makes him the understudy to Jan and slowly transition him

He hasn't let us down in the 2 games at CB but I wouldn't want him there long term. Certainly not over Sanchez. I think he would struggle against any physically strong/aggressive attacker. Even a pacey direct attacker I think would fancy their chances against him 1 on 1.

Is Aubameyang not a pacey/direct attacker? He barely had a sight of goal tonight.
