I definitely think CB is his position. When he has to just defend he does it very well.

Even without giving consideration to the hernia, some of the criticism he's come under this season has been rather harsh...

I think me and a few of my friends noticed in a game for Wales he just wasn’t himself early on in the year but I actually still think it’s best for him to move on also this summer.

I think he will end up at Leicester as the chillwell replacement solid pro but he deserves to be a starting left back now every week.

I think he will stay as he is good cover at CB also. In fact he looks more of a CB . Not really quick enough as a full back.Take over from Vert eventually

Can’t see him or Rose going anywhere this summer. Sorting out right back is too big a job.

Personally I’d get rid of given the chance but we have way more pressing needs at the moment so I can’t see him going anywhere

You do realize that Davies has played more games than Rose during the last 3 or 4 seasons, and has played his part in our regular spot in the top 4. He is just as good defensively as Rose, probably better. His chance creation rate is on a par and he has the ability to play in the back 4.

Davies is a good backup, he's not good enough as a regular starter.

So he needs an operation on a hernia, it gets postponed so he plays for Wales in the meantime? Surely if he needs surgery he shouldn’t be playing?

He’s a top player, if he’s happy to stay and rotate for that LB spot 100% happy to keep him. Not quite enough going forwards as we’d like but probably our best full back defensively and can cover CB if needed, too pro and has always done well for us.

Weird one isn’t it mate, surely it’ll be doing longer term damage, I get carrying on if it means a possible once in a career op to play in CL final or World Cup but otherwise just have the op surely!

Deserves it been a great professional and more than solid.

Very average.
Adequate defensively, just
though slow on the turn
and liable to make clumsy tackles
Not up to the modern wing back role.
Too slow, poor crosser, and often negative.

Much prefer to keep Rose

Loyal tidy club man at best.

I agree with that, but feel I must add that, like Trippier, he is a player who always gives his utmost on the pitch. They are both adequate deputies at LB and RB. I hope Rose stays, which would make the left side of defence sorted, but it's the RB/RWB position that concerns me.

He makes very few mistakes and his positioning defensively is superior to any of our other FBs. He can also play LCB (which I think is actually a better position for him). He is consistent, a 7/10 player every game rather than a 9/10 one week and a 5/10 the next (e.g. Aurier). When he does for a run of games (6+ consecutive) his offensive play (crossing and vertical passes) improves as he gains confidence and form. He also never moans and is a great team and squad player. You need players like him and Dier in the squad to be able challenge on all fronts. We’ve been spoilt in recent years with all these finals, semi-finals and league season going to the death. In the 90’s and 00’s our season was usually over in January if we got knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round).

I do prefer Rose at LB as he has greater force of will and makes stuff happen, but his quality in the final 3rd is lacking too. I also don’t like the way Rose mouths off in the press, he is increasingly becoming more susceptible to injuries (maybe due to his all action and committed playing style) and he is clearly looking to move back up North, so if I was giving out a new long term contract it would be to Davies and not Rose.
