Crystal Palace are to explore the possibility of taking the Wales international defender, Ben Davies, on loan from Tottenham next month

Davies, now restored to fitness after an ankle injury, has made only three Premier League starts this season and effectively operates as Danny Rose’s understudy at Spurs, where Mauricio Pochettino tends to use his full-backs in partnerships. The Wales international may find the opportunity of regular first-team football appealing, though Palace’s chances of securing him may actually depend upon Tottenham being successful in their own pursuit of Fulham’s highly rated Ryan Sessegnon.

Davies has had nine apperances this season in all competitions, and Rose 13. Chances are, they would've had about an equal number had it not been for Davies injury, and he'll continue getting games in the busy period coming up.

Should be a no goer, this one.

Would be a surprise if we let him go, he's not perfect but he's a great option to have as back up to Danny.

Well, I see the point in that he's not a like for like replacement to Rose.
He's been linked with Chelsea before and could shine in Conte's back 3, while a flying left back probably would suit us better.
Loan to Palace or Swansea seems silly though, he's a £20m+ asset

Him and Rose offer different things and the games have been shared fairly evenly. I'd be shocked if Spurs loan him, and to Palace of all teams - who may dispense with their manager some time soon. It wasn't long ago that the papers were saying Chelsea wanted Davies. If he were to go, it would leave us with 1 left back. great idea. Ryan Sessegnon is very young, it would be a surprise if he were to sign and go straight into being back up.

Would be surprised if we sold him as he is a decent squad player for us and gets plenty of game time. That said, if we think we can get a younger player in the same mould who could develop into a better player then I can see why we might do that.

Can see him leaving at the end of the season and us pursuing Ryan Sessegnon

Solid player, but I think he's actually got worse as a fullback playing in a back three for Wales. He sort of tucks in even more now even when in a four, because he's learned that his lack of pace gets less exposed out there.

If we shift to a back three more often though, be could be a real asset as the left sided centre back.

If I'm honest, would be open to selling him in the summer and getting Patrick Van Aanholt as his replacement, looks quality this year, similar playstyle and technique to D Rose, wouldn't want to spend life in the Championship that's for sure!

Still too casual as a defender for me. He has improved though. Sessegnon at Fulham is the one though. Phenomenal talent.

Only need to think back to earlier this to realise how thin our options are at LB. Loan would make no sense at all unless we could land Sessegnon, in which a sale would be better.

We'd have to bring someone in before we let Davies go as would leave us very short otherwise.

I think we do need to need at a more pacey and attack minded left back as Davies couldn't play as a wing back if needed.

It wouldnt be a good idea to rely on Vertonghen being able to cover there either as he'd soon get pissed off of Rose was unavailable for a period of time.

Although saying that it has been said KWP can play either side so maybe we would give him more opportunies.

Unbelievable, we have a quality player that rotates really well with Rose and you want him replaced. I swear some of you think this is champ manager or something. Who thats as good would want to come knowing Rose is here. As for getting someone like Sessignon in to replace him in Jan, what happens when Rose is out, do you really think a 16 year old will be ready to step in.

You lot will finish his career after a few mistakes.....

The point is the team is so reliant on the fullbacks for width atm and Davies just doesn't have the pace or engine to be a real threat going forward. He's a good player but he changes the dynamic too much. We need someone with a similar style to Rose.

I don't really see a problem with Davies getting forward, sure he's not as swash buckling as Rose but who is and surely we need someone to play another style.

I just don't get his constant slating of our players, we just finished 3rd with them, we're a young squad that will keep improving with some fine tuning here and there.

I'm not slating him in any way, he's a decent player, and has given pretty solid performances since joining. I just think an understudy for Rose with some pace and drive going forward would help the team when we rotate or Danny is injured.
