I'm amazed at how little value this discussion gives Davies. He's a fantastic backup. No one in the league can contribute what Rose does in attack from that fullback spot, and if he's hurt I'd rather have a reliable defender in that spot.

Now, if Palace are interested in Trippier, please, take him away.

Honestly if he is moving on, we should look at Jordan Amavi - very highly rated pre-Villa move. More of a Poch full back.
He would suit our attacking play to a tee.. however there's no point of selling Davies mid-season.. let's buy where we need improving this window

Surprised how low Davies seems to be rated in here. He's just as good as Rose defensively, but obviously not as athletic going forward. He's still a good attacking back, even though he probably doesn't scare the shit out of the opponents like Rose does.

Agree unbelievable people wanna sell on off the best backup LB's in the PL so quick, it's absolutely laughable.

Davies is a very good player.

Guess SC would just play KWP then right, that even more laughable.

Also seeing someone who is gonna wanna sell to by someone who is better - haha come on.
Who wanna join Spurs as backup to Rose who is better than Davies? Right, none!

Some are touting Ryan Sessegnon as a possible replacement - i.e. an 16 years old who's not even a regular for Fulham

Matt Law reporting that we're unlikely to allow him to leave in January, but that seeing as he's only got two years left on his current deal this summer, and apparantly not likely to sign a new one, a transfer may be on the cards then.

On one hand, no one seems better than Poch when it comes to developing a fullback, and he has been getting games here. On the other hand, he could go to Liverpool and Man United and actually be their first choice. He could also go to Chelsea and play in a back three.

So who knows.

I would understand if he wanted to leave for more playing time, but there is no way that we would want to sell him. Pochettino clearly rates him defensively, as he's sometimes willing to take him as the only sub defender, with no recognised CB on the bench.

Certainly don't want us to sell him in January.

But he can't be understudy forever. With his contract running down it might not be a bad idea to sell in the summer and replace with someone with Rose's tenacity and desire to constantly get forward.

ben davies is a great back up LB, bonafide starting calibre in mid table teams, cant ask for more as a back up, ONLY problem is that he is not as super fast line rose, but hes a slightly better crosser. hes kinda like the trippier to walker. a carbon copy of rose would be perfect but aint gonna complain about davies tbh

Very good quality back-up player, plus if we carry on playing 3 at the back he can slot in on left-hand side of that if needed (obviously Wimmer is first choice back up to Vertonghen but if either of them two needed to play as the centre of the 3).
