Playing next to Toby would make anyone look good. Got to be the easiest gig in football playing next to Peter Perfect.

I would hate to see any of our current squad, leave in Jan. With Davies' versatility and Jan's injury, it ain't going to happen.

Probs bullshit but the Sun via a 3rd party are saying Man C are prepared to pay £20m for Davies. Other than Sessegnon who's incredibly young and even with a chunk of cash to spend I can't think of any sub £20m left wing backs that we could replace him with. There's quite a few decent left backs/wing backs but with the way transfer fees are heading £20m won't go very far.

Robertson from Hull is young and has a lot of potential. But can't see us selling Ben Davies unless it's £20 mil which I doubt

With us increasingly playing 3 at the back Ben has become much more important to us, as he covers two players at once. We have a good squad now is not the time to start dismantaling it, if we want to continue our climb

He's been very solid for us. I definitely wouldn't sell him without a replacement.

Wouldn't sell him, certainly not to a rival.

If we were to, I'd certainly look at Luke Shaw, as I think he still has potential to be a top player, is only 21 and Poch knows him.

Loads of potential but never fit.

Davies is better than Shaw currently. Although Poch do seem to work wonders with these fullbacks.

Only way we would sign Shaw is if Man Utd wanted rid, but LB is hardly a priority for us

We can't afford selling our players to rivals . I don't think Davies would be first choice at ManC anyway, he would be a squad players as he's been at Spurs.

Anyone notice how Vertonghen was often positioned in the attacking half providing an outlet if there weren't any options? I went back and watched again last night and Vertonghen was often next to Wanyama sitting right behind Dembele when we were holding possession in attack.

That being said, I think Davies is the most likely candidate to fill that void given how solid he is on the ball. I don't think you'd want Toby that far advanced and Dier operates on the right of the 3. Wimmer ain't no slouch, and if we want more physicality he's the guy to go with, but if we want that role Verts was operating in to stay close to what he was doing, Davies could be very solid.
