Would be a pretty significant down grade from Toby. Truly think De Ligt is the only one we've talked about who even has the chance to come close to what Toby is as a player. Even that would be several years down the road.

Why? what's wrong with him?
Doesn't impress me, I'm not convinced he copes well defensively with people who take him on with the ball, he certainly didn't stop anything yesterday, and he might as well go to Bayern Munich as anywhere else if it turns out I'm wrong.

Played out of his natural position for the entire world cup, personally think he did alright. Showed pace, both ability on the ball and the ability to adapt to what his manager wanted during the tournament. Agree that there were areas in his game that would need improving on, then again he is 21/22?

If there is an agreement between his camp and Bayern then all this is moot.

I do worry about what some people are watching when they give their opinions on these players we're linked with.

Are you going off of just World Cup play or from Bundesliga play as well?

Not seen a lot of him in the league so mostly the world cup same as most people who would like us to buy him I imagine.
I'm not saying he isn't quite a good player but I don't think he's as good as some people think he is and I don't think he's good enough for us.

I wonder why we gave up on deLight, assuming we have
Probably Ajax's asking price. Supposedly they thought they could get 70m? From what I recall.

I'm not sure we've given up either, perhaps just waiting to see if Ajax's stance changes. Obviously City being involved doesn't help our cause.

If we sell Toby and have to loan de Ligt back for a year, I'd like to get this kid in too.

Would allow us to sell a senior RB as well if needed.

Tripps or Serge, and KWP for RB, with Pavard as emergency back up.

Sanchez, Vertonghen, Dier, Pavard and Foyth as CB.

and if we did loan de ligt back he'd come in just as Jan was starting to need more rotation.

#thfc target Benjamin Pavard will only leave Stuttgart this summer if he can join a team and be a first-choice player. [Sport1]

Well I wouldn't also leave Stuttgart if I couldn't join a team, could be bad for a career..

I just think it’s a bit odd judging a guy based on him playing RB instead of CB.
