Seem to be lots of rumours of Stambouli to Marseille - as an example http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.co...uli-the-subject-of-marseille-tottenham-talks/

The Mail also report Marseille President Vincent Labrune held a 5-hour meeting with Daniel Levy,

Poch also saying to Ham & High's Ben Pearce that even some of last summer's signings could be up for sale, with Pearce then latching on to Stambouli's rare recent appearances and sparing use during the season.

Spurs of course highjacked Stambouli's move to Marseille last summer.

If he couldn't get a game here in the last 2 months he never will. Seems like his face doesn't fit so no point in keeping him. Shame though. I think he's a much better footballer than he gets credit for.

I could easily see him going out on loan for a year to see how he does.

If we sell him my heart won't be broken either.

What a weird ass purchase.

"student of" doesn't mean the same person.

For example Bielsa is known to try out some pretty wild formations and tactics whereas Poch seems pretty set on his.

So strange

May as well sell if we can get our money back or even make a profit

I think the guy is under-rated, think he is technically a great player, great control of the ball and pretty skilful. However Poch clearly doesn't rate him that much, which is of course what matters...

I think personally he should be used as a part-exchange for Imbula. Think he is a beast (shows shades of Yaya Toure). And would provide the defence with some much-needed cover...

Stambouli + £10m-£12m should be about fair. Would love to see this happen...

Fiorentina. He turned down Marseille.

I really have no clue why we signed the fella and then he is not being played. The young lads in the middle could do with a rest every once in awhile and Benji looks like a decent player. Possibly something has happened that we don't know about but I am baffled.

Do you think he got caught up with Ade, Capoue & Kaboul incident?

No - he hangs around with the Belgians, rather than that clique.

He'd also only been at the club about 8-10 weeks when that happened, and featured heavily over the winter when Bentaleb was at the ACN.

Think we were after MS so long last summer that by the time we came to the point of deciding we couldn't wait for him any longer our Plan B and C alternative players were no lomger available and hence we signed Stambouli who seemed to tick the boxes ok.

Whilst I think Stambouliu has 'looked 'ok' I think Mason and Bentaleb have both looked a class above him, so Poch (who seems not to be the greatest rotater or changer of playing systems from 4231) opted to play Mason and Bentaleb all the time.

Think the plan is now to look for an upgrade on Stambouli so that Mason/Bentaleb have more competition next season, or that's my reading of the situation.

Not really sure I agree over the last few games. Mason looks like he needs a rest. I don't understand why we signed him as wasn't Capoue in favour at the time? If you aren't going to give him a chance when one of the first team is looking tired you might as well save your money imo.

I don't think Stambouli has really been given a fair opportunity to adapt and given a proper run though. Technically he looks far better than Mason to me from what i've seen.

Bit of an understatement. Like saying Hitler was a Naughty Boy.

I remember that 4-0 versus Newcastle in the COC. He played alongside Bentaleb and they did a very good job. Mason needs a break, give Stambou the last two games.

So I maintain that as much as our squad is tired, Stambouli must be even more tired. I've mentioned this before, but from what I've seen of him, which is pre matches only, he is doing exercises to cope with a fatigued body. The reason to why can be many, at least three, and I shan't speculate on that. But there is no reason why he would do what I've seen him do (and been told that he does on away games) unless he had a dire fatigue issue.
