I liked BAE but watching him today reminds me why we got rid, he can be so sloppy and lazy on the ball.

It was one of those games when Benny looked like he had swallowed half a bottle of valium before putting his boots on. Happened a few times with us as well. Depends on what type of club we want to be. If we want to progress then this likeable clown should not be part of the future.

Maybe he's not good enough anymore (though, in the four seasons prior to last he was excellent, and last season he was injury hampered throughout), but to call him a clown if fucking ridiculous considering that for the duration of the Redknapp era he was consistently and reliably top class at left back.

Maybe he's just properly fucked off with this shit... didn't want to leave us, Sherwood doesn't seem to be in a rush to get him back... don't blame him if he just phones it in before getting back to heathrow to mess about with his cars.

Terrible from BAE.
Was that the one where he got skinned down by the touchline? Just saw him getting owned by Reading - badly at fault yet again. Used to rate him but he's not very good any more. Not a PL quality player.

He strikes me as one of those players who performs at the level of those around him. Not a 'lifter'.

On loan at QPR and he can't even play well. He got torn to pieces by McCleary against Reading at the weekend. Positioning is all wrong, doesn't know when to engage or when to back off. Gets caught too far forward and makes no concerted effort to get back. And don't even get me started on his attitude and mentality.

I loved him under Redknapp, when he was at his peak. He played (very) well for us in 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12. But now he is soooo bad. An average Championship left-back at best - as he is proving this season.
I don't understand why people want him back at the club, let alone rate him higher than Rose. To cap it all off, he was disrespectful towards AVB on so many occasions and he felt the need to post a picture laughing at Spurs' defeat to Liverpool.

I never want to see him in a Spurs shirt again. Rant over.

I'm pretty shocked at the standard of his play with QPR too. That awful display against Reading wasn't the first. It's not just what he does but the nonchalant, almost negligent way in which he does it, as if it simply does not matter.

I don't think he is useless, but I have watched him a lot for QPR and he just doesn't care about playing for them hence the poor displays. This might be worse than just being poor.

He's been way below the standards we require the entire season, so it's hardly surprising.

Too kool for skool and a funny guy, but no longer at the level we require.

One match, or even two thirds of a season on loan in the championship doesn't make him 'useless'.

To be honest, I think when on form, he is a much better left back than Rose will ever be.

Agree with all the above, but I thought we all ascertained that this wasn't what happened?

I imagine he can't really be arsed at QPR, one of those players with low levels of determination and self motivation (relatively). Bet he would be a different player if he was back with us, stimulated, motivated by the top level and everything hat comes with it.

We need to move on and get a long term decent option at LB though.

I asked my QPR supporting mate how he's been and he said "terrible all season".

I don't think I'd be motivated to put in best efforts if I'd been farmed off to the Championship for no good reason either tbh.

It's not like he's a youngster, the guy was a senior and respected member of the squad.

Some players might try and prove the parent club wrong, but yes it does appear that unless he was a complete dick behind the scenes he has been a bit hard done by.

We don't have any other left backs in the squad, and our one left back is both inconsistent and injury prone. Despite this we keep him loaned out there at QPR.

I'm not sure it's an excuse for him not to put the effort in, but the whole thing is a bit odd.

Certainly not an excuse, but perfectly understandable IMO.
