Darren Bent wants to quit Tottenham - just four months after signing for £16.5million.
The England striker scored his second Premier League goal of the season yesterday as Spurs drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough. But the former Charlton hitman, starting only his fourth league match, is fed-up with being fourth-choice striker.
Bent, 23, does not think he is likely to replace Dimitar Berbatov or Robbie Keane under new manager Juande Ramos.
And we can reveal potential buyers have already been sounded out about a January move for him.
Bent is so keen to get away he has even been doing extra fitness training at a gym in Cockfosters, North London, to prove he is ready for action if a club signs him once the window opens in January
His unsettled mood will alert Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson and Aston Villa chief Martin O'Neill, who are both in the market for a striker.
Bent is said to regret joining Spurs rather than West Ham, who also matched Charlton's valuation of him in the summer.
Sacked Tottenham manager Martin Jol has admitted Bent was signed against his wishes by the club's sporting director, Damian Commoli.
After netting 37 goals in 77 appearances for a struggling Charlton, Bent has proven top-flight credentials. But West Ham will not be among the bidders, as Spurs would insist on recouping the substantial fee they paid for Bent if they are to let him leave.
