But I think Nabil has a Roy Keane about him. If you see those quick fire questions the club posted on FB all the players rated him the hardest working player. Doesn't sound like he has an attitude problem. There must be something we don't know.
During his contract negotiation, Bentaleb seemed to rate himself more highly than the club does. He asked for a lot of money. Maybe, just maybe, this attitude is not to Poch's liking.

Did he? Or did his agent?

I always had high hopes for Bentaleb. Got in the side while still young and I thought he'd push on. Poch doesn't often get it wrong though so I'll trust his judgement. Mason and Carroll to step up as cover in midfield, and later maybe Edwards but still early for him.

Pretty clear it's an attitude thing, the entourage, etc. You don't chuck away guys his age with his potential unless there's something you really don't like about him. Let's hope he doesn't do a Pogba

I have literally never seen anything impressive about Bentaleb. Pleased by this. Shame we had to go through 2 years of him being picked above Dembele and that we lost capoue to accommodate him.

Wanyama is the first choice cover. Hopefully the need for Mason or Carroll will be few and far between.

The problem with Bentaleb is that he is a jack of all trade and master of none. He could not sit in front of the back four and defend like Dier. He is not a crisp passer of the ball like Erikson. He could not shake off markers like Dembele, and he could not score goals like Alli. Even Mason surpasses him in vision and ability to dictate a game. That likely makes him surplus to requirement.

Hey fanboys be the 1st to neg rep me, I've lived a charmed life over my dozen odd post anyway

The blokes a liability I don't like him every game he plays he does a suicidal pass which puts us in big trouble because he plays as a deep lying midfielder if he played further up the field btw it might not be a problem but he don't so ya
It's s a problem
Think there's a player there, but I think I'd rather go with Poch and his teams assement than like wishful fucking thinking

In short come at me bro

Think the best bet is send Nabil out on loan for a season and see how he does.He did sign a five year contract and is still very young but then again if we can get 12 to 15m for him now would still be good now we have Wanyama. Not a big fan of Mason but did show up in some games early last season and then died out after Jan,maybe give him one more season to prove himself same goes to Son who will have to take his chance when given.

I was starting to think I was the only one that didn't really rate him! But I completely agree with the last few post, I've never seen anything special about him, no loss if he goes

Really thinks this is a good sign of our future under the Poch. No doubting that Bentaleb has all the skills but must not have the application. Poch becoming more and more the cornerstone in our progression and refuting the statements about being national coach of Argentina as quickly as he has shows how he sees what he can achieve with this side as something special.

Slightly off topic, but interesting that poch still thinks yedlin still has a future; I would have thought he would be one to be sacrificed also

I think he needs to have a good look at him and see if he can challenge for the right fullback spot or fit in other positions.

By saying Bentaleb has no future here, he has halved the player's value, and a club is unlikely to meet his salary demands now. Bentaleb is likely to be haunting the club for the next 4 years, which on the face of it seems like a bad deal for all.
Then again, letting expensive players just dangle seems to be one of MP's management tricks to motivate the rest of the squad. If it scares them into running harder, then arguably having Bentaleb sitting at home watching sky, is money well spent. Ruthlessness is a great motivator.

It was obvious from his performances for USA that Yedlin has the physical attributes to be an excellent right back. But, let's face it, he learned his football in America. Plenty of American players do well in European football nowadays, but that generally happens when they are mature players, a few years after they have escaped from MLS, thus giving them a chance to learn the tactics and subtleties of top-level football.

Yedlin, by contrast, was snapped up as a teenager. There was no reason to assume that he would be able to deal with Premiership football straight off the plane.

Equally, it would be no surprise at all if a player of his pace and physical gifts has improved drastically after a year's loan to a tough EPL club with a vastly-experienced manager.

Let's see how he fares this season. He might surprise us all. Or he might continue to be a very fast headless chicken with minimal defensive ability, in which case he will find himself plying his trade elsewhere in autumn 2017.
