Darren Bent's fine recent form has earned a call into the England squad for Wednesday's friendly against Germany.

England face their old foes at the Olympic Stadium, Berlin, kicking-off at 7.45pm UK time.

'Benty' has 11 goals in all competitions this season.

We also have three players in Stewart Pearce's Under-21 squad - Aaron Lennon, Jamie O'Hara and Fraizer Campbell - to face the Czech Republic in a friendly at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane on Tuesday, 7.45pm.

    Full squad:
Carson, Hart, James, Bridge, Davies, Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Mancienne, Richards, Upson, Barry, Carrick, Downing, Lampard, Gerrard, Wright-Phillips, A Young, Agbonlahor, Bent, Crouch, Defoe, Walcott.

Good point is King, Woody, Bentley, Jenas, Hudd have not been called up means 'Arry have more time with the players to prepare for next match against Blackburn.

no King or Woodgate. Bad for them, no so bad for us

    I'm surprised Thudd wasn't selected.
  4. DFF
I'm not. England players are selected based on headlines, not merit.

    and huddlestone is suspended !

dont think hudd is consistant enough yet for seniors.

i think that this international break has come at a perfect time for us, esp given the loss yesterday. we have had a busy run recently and the squad could do with a rest. in addition very few will be away on duty which gives the management their first proper time to work with the squad... hopefully we can come out the other side looking fresher and get up that table

good chance bent could start i reckon. looking at the list of strikers, only bent, crouch and defoe are true out and out strikers...and i think capello knows what defoe and crouch can do since they more regularly make the squad.

Absolutely - hope not too many of our other internationals are called away - does anyone know? Am assuming Modric and Pav at the very least?

whilst i'm happy for Bent's confidence he's been call up for international duties, i'm not sure it will be good for spurs, so i'm not that excited about it.

Just fucking hope he scores to keep up his confidence!
