Juande Ramos is quite clear that he only wants players at the Club who are committed to the team and Dimitar Berbatov places himself firmly in this category.
The striker has strongly refuted reports suggesting he is seeking a move away from White Hart Lane.

The Bulgarian international decided to speak out after one newspaper claimed his father said he wished to leave the Club, something Dimitar insists is far from the truth.

"I don't like to speak too much and don't like to be in the spotlight or the papers," said the striker. "I just want to play football.

"There has been a lot of stuff written about me leaving. I haven't said anything until now, but they are now involving my family and I cannot allow that. When somebody is writing lies about my family I must get involved.

"I am my own man, when I want to speak I will and I will tell you the truth no matter how hard it is. That is why I am talking now.

"I want to let everyone know that I am a Tottenham Hotspur player, I love the club and everyone at the club. I don't always smile so much, but that does not make me a bad person.

"I don't smile because we are near the bottom of the table and have not been playing well - I have not been playing well either.

"The worst thing is when someone starts writing lies and when people see that they start to believe it. That really is the worst thing.

"I just want to say that I am here, I am happy here and I will help the club in any way I can," he added, before stating his gratitude for the ongoing support the fans have given him since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2006.

"The fans love the club and they have been behind me ever since my first game. I appreciate them the most and I want to tell them that I am not going anywhere.

"I have a contract and I will give my best, for now it is not going so well for me because all the writing in the papers has been messing with my head and I lost my concentration.

"I don't want to see my name in the papers anymore - I just want to play football and enjoy myself. When I see things in the paper with somebody telling lies about my father, how can I be calm? I am disappointed and I don't understand how somebody can write something like that - it is a lie.

"Bringing my family into it is the biggest sin."

Still think we should sell him. I'm not conviced at all he wants to be a Spurs player.

Yeah, I can see why you'd think that.

Yeah, I can see why you'd think that.

Yes I've have read what has been said and yes I'm still not convinced that Berbatov wants to be a Spurs player. My opinion is confounded from reading what Juanda Ramos had to say about not forcing players to stay at clubs. Why would Ramos make that statement? why is it been headline news that Berbatov's agent coming to London? Why has our footballing director found the need to make comments on this issue? why have we seen quotes from Kanoutes agent saying he'd been in conversion with Commile?

You can not sit there and say Berbartov's been playing with any desire for Spurs. His talked about body language is a visual fact, continuous quotes and miss quotes must have come from somewhere which is not healthy for Spurs. I'm 100% behind Ramos when he was stated 'you cant force a player to play for the club.

I think he's staying until the summer at least and then if we're not in Europe he'll be off.

I'm glad he's come out and told the press to shut up though. Bet they don't print it the tossers.

The guy comes out on the main website for the club he is playing for and openly admits he's let things get to him,
So he's human after all?
And still people don't believe what he has said and would rather he leave as he doesn't seem 'up for the fight'
Did they read what he said? yes..... he said even admitted his own poor form,
Stop reading all the bullshit stuff you read in the press about how he wants to leave and get behind the guy for crying out loud,
He's probably the best striker this club have had since Teddy or Jurgen(the first time round)maybe now he has spoken out people will finally get off his case.
Probably not though knowing the fickle fans we have.

He said it has been messing with his head and he admitted to playing badly because of it,plus he said he loves the club and the fans too,
Even negative people too......no names mentioned there too:wink:

I really hope that Berbs is our Bergkamp, and stays for the rest of his career.

But I have trouble believing anything on the Official site at the moment. They have blatantly lied this season already.

My guess is that at the end of the season, if we're not in CL, we have agreed that he can leave for a big price. The explanation will be that it was the club that decided to sell him for the cash, not Berbas request to leave.

Semantics, as usual with our club these days.

However, I really hope I'm wrong, and am just too cynical for my own good.

The same things have been said from last season yet quotes from his agents continually come out....information about meetings with our football director is common knowledge in the press...why?

It's become like that lovely story of Berbartov, how he learned English from watching the god father.

Berbatov is a great player when he wants to be. The only problem at the moment, his not the players we saw half way through last season. He really should be concentrating on his form rather than making counter comments via his father or his agent.
