The Press.....how can I describe them in terms that would come close enough ?

I'll just leave it at sewerage for the mo . The trouble is that so many treat as gospel the words of those trying to sell product ( newspapers)

If someone was selling you a timeshare in Spain and said a load of stuff , you'd be careful about believing it ...

...Stick a barefaced lie in the Sun...and large chunks of the population swallow it whole . Even our own dear 57 was on here vigorously defending the press's treatment of Spurs this last 2 months...delusion is everywhere

So now these slime are going after families of players , like they did with Scholari . He was smart enough to leave our country well alone forcing them to make up their ' Death Threats ' lie to cover their arses ....Everyone swallowed that one as well .

Ah me

I doubt he has made any decisions on his future. He has obviously been deeply unsettled by the club hitting the self-destruct button and it has affected his form. He recognises that what he needs to do now is sort his head out, but it is going to be a big test for him whether he can turn this round. It is all about mental strength. The great players are the ones who can turn it on when all around them are playing badly.

I think you're speculating a bit with the 'obviously deeply unsettled by the club hitting the self destruct button ' bit there eddie .

By self destruct button you mean Injuries ,Jol losing the dressing room and not being able to sort our defence I presume .

We have the same players and a world class coach now .

Have you been reading the papers too much mate . The decision to replace Jol was NOT outrageous , our defending of set pieces WAS outrageous .

Berby will have been unsettled by no decent through balls/ crosses and us conceding goals all the time far more than newspaper drivel I assure you.

Begin RANT.....If Berby truely wanted to leave the man would hand in a transfer request and now would be the time to do it as he would have a few months for intrest to come in for him. The truth is he hasn't. Some members/fans on here have the intelligence of a lemming and I hope offence is taken by that. I can just see you all going to work in the morning and picking up the Star, Express, Mirror and sucking all the SH*T they see in like a sponge, your gulable brains otraged at the top quality writing before your eyes. You all believed the following:Defoe wanted a move...... King wanted a move...... Chimbo was a mercinary off to Chelsea...... Bent was unhappy...... and thats just a few. Look at Arsenal, Henry and Viera were touted as leaving constantly YEARS before they actually did.You probably even read your stars and truely believe it all will happen. You all have ordered the extreme weightloss pills and think your going to become BUFF over nite! Berby has been 100% honest with the fans and club from his first day, how many WORLD CLASS (and he is) players would come out and hold his hands up and say he needs to improve. Some of you talk about the board trailing us through the dirt and having no loyalty, maybe you should take a look in the mirror.Rant over........Have a good day.</p>

Berbs has come out and issued a statement covering just about everything that could, and has, been construed as being negative, and people still want to find something to moan about or disbelieve.

Shame on you. :snooty:

Its a good news day and all some people want is to try to find some bad news.

No, that was not really what I had in mind....

What worries me about the Ramos appointment is that we do have the same players; Jol was two or three players away from having a team capable of playing the way he wanted, Ramos is six or seven away. I simply cannot see this as anything other than a backward step.

Er, not defending them. Rather, suggesting that the board (or at least certain elements of it) was largely responsible for much of the shite we've had to put up with since the start of the season. If you want to believe that someone wasn't feeding the press and ITKs stuff about Jol, and someone wasn't making counter-leaks about the 'real' story behind the offloading of Carrick, that's fine.

listen enough is enough i believe the sun when they say berbatOFF - and elvis is alive - and on sunday we'll play just like seville do cos Ramos will flick that switch -

Get real the press love a story and if there is'nt one they'll happily make one up - berba is our star and they would love to see him go cos then there is more of a story at spurs -

press - jackels - ignore them all - don't you remember last season even when we were winning we get crap write ups -

He'll leave in the summer, the statement he put his name to on the official site wont change that. It will only keep the fans of his back as it was designed to.

So what would it take for you to actually believe him then? For him to stand up in a court of law, hand on bible, and swear that he's happy here and doesn't want to leave?

For him to get Tottenham Hotspur tattooed on his cock?

I'd genuinely like to know what it would take to convince the doubters. Clearly more than he did today?

Well yes, obviously more than he did today. How about explicitly saying 'I will sign my new contract', or 'I will not be leaving in the new year or next summer'? That'd work.

Don't any of you listen to the all-knowing Jamie Redknapp?

Maybe if he played like actually he wants to be here, that would be a start.

To be honest I don't really mind either way if he stays or goes, he's a great player if he's up for it but when he's not... well, we've all seen how he's been so far this season. And I'd agree with Ramos that if a player doesn't want to be here then you let him go (making sure you get well paid)

Anyway myself and most other people who have watched football for years have heard this kind of thing from players hundreds of times, before the quit and move on. Didn't Sol say he loved the club, loved the fans etc etc right up until he left?

But Berbs wasn't exactly pulling up trees at the start of last season either. I remember describing him 12 months ago as worth £20m at home, and 20p away. Then he kicked in and the second half of the season he became arguably the most talked about player.

Yes, I've heard these comments from players before and we are all scarred from the Judas and Carrick episodes, so I do understand the cynicism being shown.

Of course it would help if he signed a new contract, but who in their right mind would sign a new contract when the club is in the bottom 4 with a new manager on board who he has only had 10 days to work with.

Persoanally I expect him to sign a new contract once we start moving in the right direction. In the meantime I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. He stayed at Leverkusen when he could have left, he joined us when he could have joined Man Ure, so for those reasons alone I'm gonna give him time.

what once was the shrug/gesture of a temperamental maestro is now the petulant disdain of a player who wants to be elsewhere

Agree with most of what you say MattyP. It's a benefit of the doubt / wait and see for me.

But, I think there is a misconception that he had a choice of us or Man U and chose us, where IIRC Man U decided they didn't want to take the risk on him so never tabled a formal bid.

I still have my doubts over his mental attributes, and whether, with our current squad, (ie young, impressionable lads for the most part) those attributes could do more harm than good to the team.

However Snr Ramos knows what he's doing, and certainly knows a lot more than anyone here, so for now at least, I trust in his judgement.

MAGARITA BERBATOV has joined in the speculation over her sons future by insisting that he will be staying at Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs striker has hit out at claims that he was looking to leave the club and released a statement on Thursday saying that he wants to stay at White hart Lane until the end of his contract.
Magarita Berbatov said: "Mitko, my son, will stay at Tottenham until the end of his contract. He will not be leaving and he has already said this. Anything else is not true."
