I have to say I disagree. I am with you on the quality of his play, but he has behaved in an unprofessional way tbroughout his career and should be judged on his conduct both on and off the field.
I agree, but I can never support a player who refuses to play. That's what pissed me off at the time. I mean, you think of all the shit Robbie Keane got for his move to Liverpool, shit he still gets to day, when he rightly deserves to be treated as much a club legend as someone like Defoe, and yet I have seen quite a few happy to give Berbatov a pass despite showing disrespect for club, manager and fans when refusing to take to the field. It's also why my opinion of Bale soured at the end when he refused to train in the last weeks or so before his move. That game against Bolton for me showed when he was Spurs in his head he we awesome for us.
Ultimately we always showed the wrong ambition at that time which was due to our hand being forced. We had to sees our best players of they wanted to leave. He left a knob but for us he was an awesome player that took us up a level

I don't begrudge a player wanting to play at the top of the game, and that applies to to many of our players who moved on. The players I've mentioned above, Sheringham, Modric, Kyle Walker, even the detestable Sol Campbell. But for me there is a way to go about it, and Sol Campbell, Berbatov and, to a lesser degree Bale and Modric are examples of how not to do it. I believe that if people, justifiably, want to get the knives out for Campbell then they should be consistent and recognise those times when other leaving players showed disrespect when it was unnecessary. In fact, it's that sort of disrespect that turns me off signing players like Mahrez. Sadly Berbatov's behaviour at Spurs was not isolated and he has proven in his subsequent clubs that he can be difficult and self interested, which is a personality trait that may have been what started to hinder his career at United.
This. He ranks in my top 5 best spurs premier league era playersLove Berbs.Always did, always will. Some of the things he did on the pitch were a joy to behold.I can forgive the way he went about getting a move, as he wasn’t the first and wont be the last.
Just loved seeing him in a Spurs shirt
